Look what's at top of best-sellers list

It’s a little dark and foreboding, frankly. It’s a warning to America to start listening to God, or else. There’s no happy ending; in fact, no ending just yet.

But it’s been on the New York Times bestsellers list for 52 straight weeks, has sold more than a million copies, and a video version of the message, after 35 weeks atop the faith film category at Amazon, has returned to that position.

It’s the “Harbinger” book by Jonathan Cahn, and the accompanying “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” video documentary adaptation.

What makes it so in demand?

“I think it rings of truth,” Cahn told WND. “It’s a unique message.”

He said as a warning of a coming judgment if America doesn’t return to God – a call for repentance – it’s an unlikely bestsellers list subject.

“Much less the New York Times list,” he said.

But through God, it seems, all things are possible.

“It’s a God thing,” Cahn said. “The message is very different. It’s not just opinion. It’s giving exact correlations between the ancient mysteries and what’s happening now – as ancient as today’s newspaper.”

He said the book has a message that is relevant today to Americans whether they believe in God or not.

And he said it’s changing lives.

“We’re continually getting reports from people across the country whose lives are changing. They will very often use those exact works, that their outlook on life was changed,” he said.

Entire groups of Mormons are studying the book, Catholic priests are telling their parishes to read it, and there have been prominent members of the Jewish community whose interest has been focused.

The New York Times ranking?

“I don’t understand how that happens, how that’s maintained,” he said. “I have no doubt this was the Lord.”

In addition to the 52 weeks on the Times list, and the milestone of selling the millionth copy, the video documentary, “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment,” also has returned to the top of the list at Amazon.

There, one viewer commented, “I am not an ‘end of the world’ type but this movie has some very compelling facts that are really eye-opening. Maybe God is trying to tell us all something.”

It already was the top faith movie for 35 straight weeks in 2012.

It’s a powerful video portrayal of the events of 9/11 and its aftermath and how they mimic the judgment of ancient Israel – even down to the repetition of the same vows of defiance by not one American leader, not two, but three.

Here are just the most recent consumer reviews posted recently at Amazon:

  • “Everyone in American from every walk of life needs to see this DVD. It is not fiction, it is real.”
  • “This information is something everyone needs to see and hear. You will be stunned by the information provided. This is not coincidental. This is pure truth!”
  • “I am not an ‘end of the world’ type but this movie has come very compelling facts that are really eye opening. Maybe God is trying to tell us something.”

It’s also the movie that Chuck Norris has, well, recommended you watch.

In a recent column he exclaimed, “Watch the insightful and compelling ‘Isaiah 9:10 Judgment,’ which foretells America’s future.”

Chuck Norris is a man of few words. When he speaks, he has something to say. And that’s why the producer of “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment,” Joseph Farah of WND Films, is so excited about his enthusiastic endorsement of the movie that was the No. 1 faith film of 2012 and still riding high in 2013.

But what does he mean when he says the movie “foretells America’s future”?

“The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” and “The Harbinger” make the persuasive case that America is under God’s judgment – and has been since 9/11.

In fact, they make the case that God has provided so much evidence of the warnings He has sent America, that it is really an overwhelming case.

Specifically, the parallels between what is happening in America today and what happened in ancient Israel are nothing short of startling.

Norris is hardly the first celebrity to recommend “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment.”

Marshall Teague, who plays the mayor of a town who fights back against religious intolerance in the movie “Last Ounce of Courage,” had this to say: “‘The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment’ is a chillingly compelling look into biblical history in the midst of repeating itself. Information presented to viewers eludes the most skeptical from ignoring a link between the past and present littered throughout our political chains. To falter in our faith and mockingly rise in the tide of self-importance will hasten the prophecy of Isaiah 9:10.”

Teague happens to be a close friend of Norris.

For the trip of a lifetime, join “Harbinger” author Jonathan Cahn and “Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” producer Joseph Farah on a tour of Israel, Nov. 7-17, 2013. Limited space available.

Likewise, former U.S. Sen. Jeremiah Denton, a retired admiral and the author of “When Hell Was in Session,” which describes his ordeal as the Vietnam prisoner of war held captive longer than any other, had this to say about “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment”: “Isaiah’s historic efforts to curb the defection of the Hebrews from the dictates of the God of Abraham parallels what’s happening in America today – with the abandonment of fundamental principles upon which the United States was founded, including the principle stated in the Declaration of Independence, that our citizens are ‘endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.’ Every time the Jews disobeyed God, they suffered. Disaster would be America’s punishment as well.”

Legendary entertainer Pat Boone couldn’t speak more highly of it.

“God bless you for ‘The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment’ – it’s absolutely fabulous!” Boone told WND. “The content and the production are so well done. In fact, Shirley and I are ordering a dozen or more to send to close family and friends – after which we’ll probably need scores more. Every Christian, every American needs to see this!” Boone declared.

Christian media critic Ted Baehr called it “extraordinary, compelling, dramatic.”

Author Ray Comfort called the documentary “a powerful, inspiring trumpet-blast of thought-provoking biblical truth.”

“The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” is the stunning documentary revealing the striking parallels between the fall of ancient Israel and God’s early judgments of America.

Cahn, of the Jerusalem Center-Beth Israel Congregation in Wayne, N.J., says an otherwise obscure passage in the Book of Isaiah is since Sept. 11, 2001, being uncannily re-enacted in the U.S. just the way it originally played out in the time of the great prophet of Israel leading to the nation’s captivity and dispersions.

In “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” this “ancient mystery that holds the secret of America’s future and the collapse of the global economy” is told in a compelling two-hour documentary format produced by WND’s Joseph Farah and directed by award-winning filmmaker George Escobar.

“Before its destruction as a nation, ancient Israel received nine harbingers, prophetic omens of warning,” Cahn says. “The same nine harbingers are now manifesting in America with immediate ramifications for end-time prophecy.”

The key to decoding the harbingers, he says, is found in understanding the seemingly innocuous words of Isaiah 9:10 (King James Version), what it meant to Israel and how the history seems to be repeating itself in America today: “The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.”

These words were first uttered by leaders in Israel and in response to a limited strike by Assyria on the lands of Zebulun and Naphtali – an attack the prophet makes clear is actually part of a limited judgment by God against apostasy. It wasn’t meant to destroy the nation, but to awaken it, according to most commentaries.

But, says Cahn, Israel didn’t take the cue. Instead, the response from the people in Isaiah 9:10 is one of defiance. The brick buildings were toppled, but they vowed to build bigger and better. The little sycamore trees may have been uprooted, but they vowed to plant bigger and better cedars in their place.

God, speaking through Isaiah, explains what will happen as a result of their pride and arrogance and failure to heed the harbinger: Bigger and more potent attacks will follow.

Because neither the northern kingdom of Israel or the southern kingdom of Judah truly repents, the first is eventually swept away by Assyrian invaders and the latter is carried off into captivity by the Babylonians for 70 years.

But what does this have to do with the United States of America – particularly what the U.S. experienced on 9/11 and since? Cahn has found some eerie parallels.

“In the aftermath of the attack, the nation was stunned,” said Cahn, “Everyone was trying to make sense of what had happened – this unprecedented attack on America. The very next day, September 12, then Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle presented America’s response to the world. And what did he say?”

Daschle said: “America will emerge from this tragedy as we have emerged from all adversity – united and strong. Nothing … nothing can replace the losses of those who have suffered. I know there is only the smallest measure of inspiration that can be taken from this devastation. But there is a passage in the Bible from Isaiah that speaks to all of us at times like this.”

He then went on to read Isaiah 9:10.

“Daschle has no idea what he is doing here,” explains Cahn. “He thinks he’s offering comforting words to a grief-stricken people, but he is actually embracing the spiritually defiant and arrogant words of the children of Israel, proclaiming the ancient and ominous vow of the leaders of that nation. He doesn’t realize it, but he is actually inviting more judgment on the nation.”

It might be of some significance that Daschle, one of the most powerful men in the nation when he spoke those words, later fell into disgrace – to the point where he couldn’t even serve in Barack Obama’s Cabinet.

That might have been the end of the story – if no other top leader in the nation uttered those strange and obscure words after 9/11. But that’s not the case.

On the third anniversary of the attack, Sept. 11, 2004, another powerful U.S. senator running for vice president that year and who would famously run for the presidency four years later, gave a speech to the Congressional Black Caucus.

This time, John Edwards’ entire speech was built on a foundation of Isaiah 9:10: “Today, on this day of remembrance and mourning, we have the Lord’s Word to get us through,” he said. He then read Isaiah 9:10. He went on to talk about how America was doing just that – rebuilding with hewn stone and planting cedars.

In “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment,” viewers get to see these remarkable, largely forgotten or overlooked speeches, which directly link the events of 9/11 and the events referred to in Isaiah 9:10.

“Like Daschle, Edwards thinks he’s invoking inspirational and comforting words from the Bible, but he’s actually inviting judgment on America,” says Cahn. “He’s repeating the vow that provoked God to bring calamity on ancient Israel.”

Daschle and Edwards were hardly alone among U.S. leaders in making similar statements, as “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” shows.

But aside from such statements, which could be chalked up to political talk and coincidences, is there anything else linking Isaiah 9:10 to 9/11?

The video documentary, like the book, is full of shocking parallels. There was actually a very famous sycamore tree felled in the attack on the World Trade Center. It was replaced by trees in the same genus as the cedar. There have been many plans made to rebuild the twin towers bigger and better and a large “hewn stone” was actually quarried out of the Adirondack Mountains in New York and brought to Ground Zero as a cornerstone.

“The parallels are truly stunning,” says Farah, founder of WND, who produced the documentary for WND Videos. “They are too numerous and too powerful to relate in news story form. In fact, they are overwhelming in their number and their exactitude. I am persuaded God is trying to tell America something and Rabbi Cahn has found the key to unlocking the message.”

Farah says events continue to unfold that seem to link directly to the message of Isaiah 9:10 right here in the United States.
