(SportingNews) Three Alabama players arrested Monday are requesting that they be classified as youthful offenders because of their age and criminal history, the Birmingham News reports.

The attorneys for Eddie Williams, Brent Calloway and D.J. Pettway have applied for the status. Each man is 20 years old. A youthful offender status would cap their maximum sentence and shield their records from public view.

According to the paper, all three also requested preliminary hearings.
