Several times over the last year, I admonished readers of this space and many others not to place an inordinate amount of weight on media when it comes to gauging popular sentiment and the political climate in general. The reason for this being the wholesale compromise of the press and entertainment media by the political left and assorted deviants. Placing too much significance on media would necessarily lead to the impression that popular sentiment is overwhelmingly with the left and that the chances of prevailing against the Marxist juggernaut are indeed slim.

In other words, they’re simply trying to psych us out – and why wouldn’t they?

Now, don’t get me wrong; America is in deep trouble, and it is likely that over the next decade millions of us will suffer in ways unimaginable to most Westerners. The whole of the federal government has been compromised by statists, and the Republican leadership is not going to right the course. Holding out for a messianic GOP candidate in 2016 is a recipe for disaster. Individuals and families ought to be storing food, water, weapons and ammunition, preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

That said, back to public sentiment. There have been 65.4 million firearms purchases since Barack Obama took office. Background checks for firearms during the month of January 2013 alone numbered 2,483,230. This does not speak of a citizenry that is as apathetic as it appears at times, and it most certainly does not indicate one in lock-step with the Obama zombies and limp-wristed liberal talking heads paraded before us in the establishment press on a daily basis.

According to the Pew Research Project’s Excellence in Journalism Report for 2012, more Americans are receiving their news from multiple platforms than ever before, online sources accounting for an ever-increasing amount of that number being taken from television and newspapers. The good news here is that even traditionally liberal corporate megaliths like Facebook are creating partnerships with traditionally conservative media outlets (such as The Wall Street Journal).

Why? Because in the end, they want to make money.

Given this formula, we have the likelihood that more Americans – not less – will be exposed to the news the establishment press absolutely refuses to cover. More importantly, they will begin to see the significance of some of the stories that are presented by intellectually stultified liberal media types who, in their arrogance, believe that everyone thinks as they do.

“The president has put in place an organization that contains the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life. That’s going to be very, very powerful. That database will have information about everything on every individual in ways that it’s never been done before.”

– Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif.

Case in point: Last week on TV One’s “Washington Watch” with black liberal hack Roland Martin, California Rep. Maxine Waters spilled the beans on a database President Obama has amassed, which she purports to contain “information about everything on every individual.” Leaving aside the fact that this borderline mental defective is obviously fine with Obama setting himself up as an unassailable, omnipotent tyrant, this speaks directly to his intention to do so.

As we know, Americans aren’t as stupid as liberals think they are. The upshot of this sort of thing is that an increasing number of Americans will become apprised of the danger of this administration, and those already aware will become that much more resolved toward combating same.

The Department of Homeland Security has increasingly fallen under suspicion for its skirting of the Constitution, proclivity for targeting law-abiding Americans rather than suspicious individuals and evolution toward a Gestapo-like outfit. Recently, they announced that requiring probable cause for their agents seizing electronic devices within 100 miles of the border “would be operationally harmful” and thus, they are suspending the probable-cause requirement, a violation of the Fourth Amendment.

Evidence stemming from an American Civil Liberties Union Freedom of Information Act lawsuit revealed that between October 2008 and June 2010, over 6,500 people traveling to and from the United States had their electronic devices searched at the border. Nearly half of these people were U.S. citizens. Of course, the stories of American air travelers molested without cause are legion.

In spite of the dismal course we’re on, the media portrayals depicting Obama as a benevolent father figure, bloviating in front of cheering automatons, and celebrity assertions that he’s our “boss” or our parent, Americans have been catching on. I believe that many more will be for us than against us in the difficult times to come.

This does not necessarily mean that we will be able to arrest this administration’s progress, or that the government will not represent a grave threat if we cannot; that isn’t the point. We may have already reached the point of no return with regard to that sociopolitical singularity which will carry the impact of the Civil War, the two World Wars and the Great Depression rolled into one. It is my belief that despite the suffering and hardship that will transpire, these informed and prepared patriots will represent America’s real future.
