(Editor’s note: Colin Flaherty has done more reporting than any other journalist on what appears to be a nationwide trend of skyrocketing black-on-white crime, violence and abuse. WND features these reports to counterbalance the virtual blackout by the rest of the media due to their concerns that reporting such incidents would be inflammatory or even racist. WND considers it racist not to report racial abuse solely because of the skin color of the perpetrators or victims.) EDITOR’S NOTE: The links in the following report may contain offensive language.
Police detained 76 black people, arresting only eight. The rest were released to their parents. Local news reporters could not tell whether this was just a “brouhaha” among some hooligans, or something more serious.
People caught up in it had no trouble figuring it out.
“I was scared for my life,” a waitress from American Coney Island restaurant named Melody told New 4 in Detroit. “They started slapping up our customers for no reason. A gang full of kids. Just came in here and started throwing chairs, acting crazy.”
Neither did people who watched the video and saw police chase “hordes” of black people being all over downtown.
The activity centered around the Motown Winter Blast, a collection of ice sculptures, skating, and entertainment all held outside. All to break the “Cycle of Poverty” and benefit a collection of Detroit social service agencies.
Festival organizers say they had no trouble at their party. But News 4 reports that is not true either, with many people being escorted from the outdoor party for causing trouble. People who would soon rampage outside the party as well.
From the Detroit News: “Malik Shabazz, a community activist who belonged to a gang as a youth, criticized the teens’ behavior but said it’s a consequence of the plight of city neighborhoods. The neighborhoods have been neglected by city and state leaders, leaving youths with little structure in their lives other than what is provided by troublesome gangs, he said.
“Children want attention, want structure, want rules,” he said. “If they’re not getting those things from society, they will act out. The streets will give what their broken families fail to give.”
Dorian Scott Wilson also rejected any notion that being black had anything to do with the violence and lawlessness:
If you had ANY idea about the number of blacks and whites and organizations that are working diligently, hand-in-hand, every day, behind the scenes, to bring some semblance of civility and cooperative effort to this city…you would be ashamed of your ignorance.
Another poster said, “It’s not just one race doing it, it is all races!”
This is just one of several Detroit convenience stores subject to sustained and serious criminal behavior by black mobs.
As hard as the media works to pretend this was not really happening as bad as it was, people in Detroit in knew better, said one poster to the News 4 site:
I’m done visiting Detroit, not for the casino, not for concert and m Lion season tickets……done. Just like Mayor Bing, I’ve spent years telling people that it’s safe as long as your in the Downtown corridor, well that’s just not true anymore. Unlike these nomadic hoards of fatherless gangbangers, I value life and simply won’t put myself or my loved ones at risk.
Said Nick Hentoff of the story in the Detroit News: “Sorry, but getting ‘smacked’ by a 170 lb 17-year-old wearing a ski mask is not my idea of a ‘brouhaha.’ Does the reporter work for the Detroit Chamber of Commerce?”
