(KMBC) — KANSAS CITY, Mo. —A Kansas man has been charged with attempted bank robbery after an employee at a Trimble, Mo., bank shot him last week.
Michael Stephen Oliva remains in a hospital under federal guard after the incident Friday at First Security Bank in Trimble.
According to court documents, Oliva came into the bank, put on a black mask and pointed a realistic-looking plastic gun at a teller and ordered her to give him money. The employee dropped to the floor and asked a colleague for help.
Investigators said a second employee, who was in an office, saw Oliva pointing a gun at the teller. The employee retrieved a revolver and fired two shots, one of which hit Oliva in the jaw.
