Obama busted for completing bracket, not budget

Finish your broccoli – er, bracket, er – budget
Here’s a reason why President Obama should disassociate from the @BarackObama Twitter account, the Organizing for America account that’s trolling the GOP from which he’s already supposedly totally independent.
When Obama made his picks for the NCAA championship winners, it was touted throughout Twitterdom: “President Obama filled out his March Madness Brackets for E-S-P-N. He has Florida, Indiana, Louisville & Ohio State reaching the final four.”
Informed citizens tweeted back, “Finish your budget”: “There’s never time to deal with fiscal or economic issues, but somehow Obama ALWAYS has time to fill out a bracket on National TV. Oh.”
Obama submitted all of his budgets during his first term, but only one was submitted on time. Federal law requires our president to submit a budget to Congress by the first Monday in February. Thus far this year, he has yet to present one, breaking 92 years of tradition whereby the president submits a budget prior to the House and Senate passing their budgets. But he did find time to fill out his brackets for the NCAA championship.
As Twitchy noted last week, it’s too bad the budget isn’t a bracket.
World learns of Cyprus bank deposit seizures thru Twitter
On Friday, March 15, a tweet was sent out at 4:45 p.m. Brussels time from Financial Times reporter @SiegelPeter at the European Summit in Belgium: “If a tree tweets on the
#Cyprus bailout but there’s nobody there to hear it, does it make a sound?”
@toby_n: #cyprus deal: 6.75% haircut on deps rising to 9.9% on deps over €100k; corp tax hiked to 12.5% http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/33fb34b4-8df8-11e2-9d6b-00144feabdc0.html …
By the time the news appeared on the Drudge Report on Sunday morning, the Twittersphere had been spinning the news around the globe for some 36 hours.
Just another example showing how a little bluebird has overtaken the traditional media’s ability to rapidly report on breaking news. And hampers its ability to spike stories to keep information from the public’s eye.
Twitter is celebrating its 7th anniversary. Here’s a video highlighting Twitter’s milestones, accompanied by a post from editorial director Karen Wickre (@kvox): “We have well over 200 million active users creating over 400 million Tweets each day… As we’ve grown, Twitter has become a true global town square – a public place to hear the latest news, exchange ideas and connect with people all in real time. This is where you come to connect with the world at large.”
Happy birthday, Twitter! You’re changing the world. Glad you’re here!
Caution! You are about to enter a no-spin zone!
Viewers of the “King of Cable” on the “Fair and Balanced” cable news network took a swing at conservative Republican congresswoman Michele Bachmann last week, landing a verbal punch that made headlines and convulsed conservative twitterers.
When Bachmann criticized President Obama for spending taxpayer money on “a lifestyle of excess,” Bill O’Reilly, who’s slogan is “We’re watching out for you” defended Obama and called out the Congresswoman for “playing small ball” and “trivial pursuit.”
Gawker’s piece on O’Reilly’s contentious child custody battle currently being waged in court also resulted in significant tweetage. The spin, evidently, does not stop with the King of Cable.
The Iron Lady
Among several parodies of Obama’s “Hope” poster The People’s Cube website created during the 2008 elections was former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s image, captioned “Iron.” Designed by Oleg Atbashian, a graphic artist and emigre from the formerly communist-ruled country of Ukraine, Atbashian was contacted by the treasurer of the Grantham Museum in England for permission to use the image in a campaign to raise approximately £200,000 for a statue of The Iron Lady. It will be located in Grantham, Lincolnshire, where she was born and raised. PM Thatcher, the U.K.’s first and only female prime minister, served three terms from 1979 to 1990.
Lady Thatcher, now 87-years of age, is reported to have suffered from ill health after a series of minor strokes in 2002.
A dabba doo time! You’ll have a gay old time
Remember the Flintstones? They lived in a town called Bedrock, and Fred propelled his car forward with his feet? They were a traditional family – husband, wife, cute lil’ baby daughter Pebbles …
Those were the days. Simple, uncomplicated. So long ago, it was practically the Stone Age. Today Fred and Barney would be married to each other, and Wilma would be overweight and drinking herself into a stupor with Betty.
Seems like lots of folks are having a gay old time of it now. There’s Starbucks Coffee CEO Howard Schultz who is all for homosexuality, defending his company’s support for “marriage equality” at last week’s shareholders meeting.
But the cherry atop the 2016 presidential hopeful sundae is the well-publicized videotaped announcement from Hillary Rodham Clinton who set the LGBT crowd aglow with her “support of same-sex marriage.”
It seems the only hold-out was the honorable republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia who made it quite clear, “I’m not gay. So I’m not going to marry one.”
Yabba dabba do!
