'Missing prophecy' reveals future of Israel

That this is a fulfillment of prophecy is all the more amazing (2 Peter 3), and what’s more, it isn’t a surprise to researchers like Bill Salus.
While the Rick Warrens of the world minimize the importance of the Bible’s predictive prophecy, Bill Salus is leading a resurgence of interest, and his ground-breaking research into the semi-obscure Psalm 83 is riveting. In a new book, “Psalm 83, the Missing Prophecy Revealed: How Israel Becomes the Next Mideast Superpower,” Salus seems to be a step ahead of other Bible prophecy teachers.
For example, his reading of Psalm 83 – in which a confederation of Israel’s Arab neighbors resolve to unveil a “Final Solution” for the “Israel problem” – reveals facts that are literally happening on the ground now, week by week.
Israel’s discovery of a huge natural gas field in the Mediterranean (“Leviathan”) is a game-changer, economically, for the embattled little nation. Salus rightly understands this to be a possible trigger for larger end-times battles to commence (see Ezekiel 38-39). The Israelis are suddenly sitting on a trillion-dollar resource and figure to make nice with Turkey in order to lay a pipeline into Europe. Such a scenario is what Salus sees as luring old enemies (Russia/Iran) south to attack Israel.
For those of us who have watched the region for many years, there is a sense that the pressure currently applied to Israel by the international community is perhaps the worst since the state was founded 65 years ago. This is but another item that makes “Psalm 83, The Missing Prophecy Revealed”so timely and engrossing.
As I’ve said before, Bill Salus is one of the most skilled researchers in this field today, and that ability is evident on every page.
The Psalm 83 scenario shows us a political and military coalition between Israel’s neighbors. Were they to attack Israel, it would exactly fulfill Psalm 83, in which the Jewish state’s neighbors wish to “wipe out” the very name of Israel. Sounds like the identical language being used weekly now from such as Iran, Syria and Egypt. Conditions that didn’t exist until Salus’s book was in its final stages now form a definitive frame for the Mideast conflict brewing.
Salus burst onto the Bible prophecy scene a few years ago with the terrific “Isralestine.” He then added to his talent by writing “Revelation Road,” which presented in end-times scenarios in a novel form. I thought then as now that it was one of the best treatments of that genre that I’ve yet read – and that career stretches back 20 years.
Now, with “Psalm 83, The Missing Prophecy Revealed,” Salus returns to his forte: research and writing that reads like tomorrow’s headlines. From what I’ve heard, pre-sales were through the roof for this book, and it’s easy to see why.
In particular, Salus understands the significance of the Palestinians in today’s end-times plot. For decades, the political tool known as “Palestine” has simmered. Now, 20 years after Oslo, the world (as Barack Obama claimed last year) is getting tired of the status quo, which means Israel is to blame for the impasse in negotiations.
In other words, the status of Jerusalem and the very fact of Israel’s existence is the trigger to a collection of battles that fulfill prophecy. Again, Bill Salus’ research in his latest book reveals this in astonishing ways.
Notice, please, how detailed his research is: “Though Hosea 1:9-10 speaks of a time when Israel would be reclassified as ‘not My people,’ this declassification did not find final fulfillment during Hosea’s time, whose ministry spanned from 750 to 725 B.C. Rather, it was a prophecy of events to come. The title ‘My people Israel’ continued to apply even during the time of the prophet Jeremiah, whose ministry began in the thirteenth year of Josiah (628 B.C.). They continued to hold the title even during the Babylonian captivity, evidenced by the fact that Daniel was still prophesying from within Babylon during that period.”
The thousands of hours the author has invested in research and writing are a gift for the reader and serious student of prophecy. I know a bit about this community, and now, a new Bill Salus book is a much-anticipated event, signaling his rise to the top ranks of prophecy scholars.
Even before U.S. State Department officials grasped what was happening with the Arab Spring, Salus was writing about such conditions that would present Psalm 83 in full flower. For those paying attention, the very charter of Hamas sounds like a copy of Psalm 83!
All this is presented in rich detail in “Psalm 83, The Missing Prophecy Revealed.” And, although he “lives in” the Bible prophecy community, Salus understands the wider culture. It is his eye on that demographic that makes this new book so important. With the world hurtling toward an uncertain future (in the minds of most), Bill Salus has solid answers.
