(THE AGE) — A former Seventh Day Adventist preacher has been jailed for subjecting his partner to a “sickening” 40-hour ordeal of rape, serious assault and false imprisonment.
A Melbourne judge said on Friday the violence he exhibited to the woman was “sickening” and told him: “You showed a complete disregard for her.
“You treated her with total disrespect, as if she was just an object.”
The County Court judge said it was regrettable that through this “whole ugly incident” his young children were in a house for at least part if not all of the time.
They had heard their mother being physically abused which the judge said would have “deeply distressed” them.
The judge told the man: “It is difficult to find words to describe your offending.
