Rep. Wolf handing President Reagan a copy of "Red Horizons" in the Oval Office

It’s not often a U.S. Congressman plays a key role in a real-life spy story.

But, as recounted in the new WND Books  bestseller “Disinformation,” Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., lived a cloak-and-dagger situation right out of a James Bond film — behind the Iron Curtain and chased by the secret police while trying to smuggle a woman-in-distress out of the country.

“Disinformation” was written by former Romanian spy chief Ion Mihai Pacepa, the highest-ranking Soviet bloc intelligence officer ever to defect to the West. His co-author is law professor Ronald Rychlak.

Former President Ronald Reagan reportedly referred to Pacepa’s first book, “Red Horizons,” as “my bible for dealing with dictators.”

Wolf, now serving his 17th term in Congress, told WND that, indeed, Reagan found Pacepa highly credible and an invaluable source of information.

In the video below, the congressman describes how he ended up spiriting Pacepa’s daughter, Dana, out of Romania and out of the clutches of a ruthless communist dictatorship that was threatening her life.
