(NYDAILYNEWS) — This high school runs a tight ship.
After four years of hard work, a South Carolina high school senior was not allowed to walk across the stage to receive a diploma on her graduation day.
Her crime? She missed rehearsal.
Haley Coker fell prey to Blue Ridge High School’s strict policies after she got the times wrong for one of the two required practice sessions. Her mom was working, and she needed to drop her little sister off at an awards ceremony. When Coker realized that she had made a mistake, she reportedly rushed back to the practice session, fell to her knees and begged to be let in—just to hear the principal’s resounding “No.”
“I begged her, I said please, please, please, please, please,” Coker told Fox Carolina. “She told me no. She told me to get off the stage because I was embarrassing myself.”
