Meet a real-life superhero (in training)!

Jeeves Urquhart weighs 341 pounds. He’s worked dead-end jobs most of his life. But what he really dreams of becoming is a real-life superhero.
Now, with the help of WND-TV, Urquhart is seeing his improbable dream … become a reality.
WND-TV has announced the launch of a new, reality-based, online TV series following Urquhart’s journey from “Zero to Superhero,” viewable at WND.com beginning June 17, 2013.
Produced by Molotov Mitchell, head of Illuminati Pictures, “Zero to Superhero” follows the travails of Urquhart, who will be working with a group of specialists taking him through intense fitness training, drilling into him new skills (like Krav Maga, the hand-to-hand combat technique used by Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency) and outfitting him with cutting-edge tools.
The ultimate goal? To make Jeeves Urquhart into a real, live superhero.
Not just a guy donning a costume and mask, however – well-meaning folks have sprung up all over the country emulating the superheroes they’ve seen on the big screen. Many make headlines for getting beaten up, arrested or pepper sprayed by the people they’re trying to “rescue.”
“Zero to Superhero,” on the other hand, is more. It’s real. It’s about an average guy’s transformation into a specialist with extraordinary skills and abilities.
In each episode, “Zero to Superhero” will document Urquhart’s journey as he gets fit, trains in multiple combat forms, crafts a superhero identity and mission, develops a suit and weapons and conquers his worst fears: heights, water and pain.
Will he make the transformation successfully?
Mitchell told WND this wannabe-superhero has already displayed many of the traits he’s going to need.
“Jeeves is great to work with, so funny, so determined,” Mitchell said. “We knew, starting out, that Jeeves would have to be really dedicated to the program or the whole thing was going to fail. He had to have skin in the game. So when he said he’d be willing to relocate his family to come do this, we knew he was in for the long haul. And so far, he has not given up, not even for a second.”

Mitchell, who has been working with Urquhart since last October, gave WND a sneak peek into what he’s seen so far and what’s in store for the would-be superhero.
“It’s amazing, watching Jeeves drop weight,” Mitchell said. “He’s doing above and beyond what we’d expected, thus far. But I’m especially excited about developing his suit, his costume, for crime-fighting. That will be incredible. Once we get him down to the weight we need, that’s when the epic suit-building shall commence!
“After he’s lost the weight, after he’s a proficient fighter, Jeeves plans to patrol the streets of Durham, N.C., reporting crime and assisting people in need,” Mitchell explained. “In the process of doing so, he could end up in a fight or worse. What we’re teaching him now will dramatically increase his chances for success. And by ‘success,’ I don’t just mean fighting crime; ‘success’ also means losing enough weight to live a long life, something he wouldn’t have had, without this training. He came in morbidly obese. Now he’s just obese. Soon, he’s going to be in fighting shape, and if that was all we accomplished, that would still be fantastic. That’s another life saved.
“But thankfully, we’re training for more than just plain old, vanilla fitness. If he wanted that, he could join a gym,” Mitchell continued. “No, Jeeves doesn’t just want a six pack; he has a higher goal, and he’s getting there, one episode at a time.”
Mitchell has a higher goal in mind as well: showing others through Urquhart’s transformation that they can make changes in their lives and communities as well.
“People have been extremely supportive, watching Jeeves undertake this journey. We’ve had many people join our schools just from seeing him in the show,” Mitchell told WND. “I’m hoping that more people choose to put down the pizza, turn off Jerry Springer and do something with their lives. Get in shape, if not for you, then for your loved ones! And do something for your community. Make a difference!
“If Jeeves can do it,” Mitchell said, “so can you.”
