WASHINGTON — Ordinary Americans came from across the country to attend rallies in the nation's capital to express concern, frustration and anger with the government.
Wednesday's gathering was during the middle of the work week and organized on short notice, but thousands descended on the lawn in front of the Capitol.
A morning rally called on Congress to make sure any immigration bill does not include amnesty for illegal aliens.

The main event was the afternoon's "Audit the IRS" rally, a call for a full investigation of the tax-collection agency's targeting of conservative groups during the 2012 presidential election campaign.
The rally featured such prominent speakers as Glenn Beck, Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rand Paul, R-Ky., as well as Reps. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, Steve King, R-Iowa, Dave Camp, R-Mich., Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and Matt Salmon, R-Ariz.
