(LEHIGHVALLEYLIVE) — When Bethlehem Area School District advertised it was looking to hire 20-some elementary school teachers this summer, the response was overwhelming.
The district received more than 1,200 applications for those jobs. And the district still has 10 secondary-level jobs to fill.
“It’s high,” Assistant Superintendent for Education Jack Silva said. “It’s very high. It’s been a difficult labor market for a lot of teachers.”
