“There yet remains one mighty element in the program of Satan’s counterfeits in addition to his outward forms, deep doctrines, church and ministers – that is, the Man of Sin, the blasphemous counterfeit of the blessed Christ, who is yet to appear; who will be the very incarnation of Satan; and ‘whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders and all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;’ (2 Thessalonians 2:9, 10).
“As the whole purpose of God in the ages has its consummation in the yet future coming of Christ, so Satan, in imitation of the program of God, has appointed a coming one (2 Thessalonians 2:9), who will be his greatest manifestation, and upon whom he will bestow his greatest wisdom, power and attractiveness. The study of this mighty and imposing character can only be suggested in the following pages.” (“Satan,” by Lewis Sperry Chafer, 1909. Available from Project Gutenberg.)
Lewis Sperry Chafer’s book on Satan is a remarkable treatise on a created being that growing numbers of Americans now worship. It is even more remarkable for its 1909 copyright date. The book was written before the formation of the modern-day state of Israel.
America’s decline of the past 10 years has been spectacular. Economically, politically, morally and ethically, culturally, religiously, we are barely a shadow of our once-great selves. Today we sustain the dream with $85 billion monthly of Federal Reserve funny money used to buy our bonds and recycled into welfare and other government spending.
Notice that I did not include America’s military in our decline. That has yet to come, but its fall will be even more spectacular than those elements of society that preceded it, and completely devastating. NSA’s domestic spying apparatus indicates that the people in government do not trust the citizens they work for.
Indeed, the ruling elite have turned the military’s attentions inward. This should terrify any thinking American who values a less tyrannical government than, say, the East German Stasi under the communists. Those of you who are “not doing anything wrong” will, of course, be able to change your eye color, skin color, parents’ surnames, religious practices and political voting record to conform to the ruling elite’s perception of reality, and thereby remain free of IRS persecution and multiple government prosecutions of newly invented hate crimes. Won’t you?
So it is easy to see that Satan is responsible for America’s downfall. Isn’t it? I mean, here we were, just minding our own business, and wham! Who else could bring about the dramatic downfall of such a rich and powerful nation as America?
The Christian churches upon whose faith America was built of course resisted. They spoke with a united voice across denominational lines about the evils of abortion, euthanasia, sexual degeneracy, redefined marriage, welfare dependency, fatherless children, inner-city gang violence and undeclared wars abroad. And they suggested that Christians strongly consider the statements of those they elected to office regarding these evils.
They did all that, didn’t they? From The Message, Revelation 3:14-17:
Write to Laodicea, to the Angel of the church. God’s Yes, the Faithful and Accurate Witness, the First of God’s creation, says:
“I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot – far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant. You make me want to vomit. You brag, ‘I’m rich, I’ve got it made, I need nothing from anyone,’ oblivious that in fact you’re a pitiful, blind beggar, threadbare and homeless.”
Well of course, that couldn’t be the American Church God is describing here at the end of time. Could it? Or maybe we didn’t do so good, after all. Maybe we fit right in with the rest of American culture.
“I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not” (Isaiah 66:4).
Guess what, America? Your demise is being orchestrated by God.
