(SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL) — A 2-year-old toddler who police say was neglected by her “oblivious” mother was unscathed after wandering into a busy Boynton Beach intersection and crossing six lanes of traffic by herself.

According to a Boynton Beach police arrest report, several drivers at West Gateway Boulevard and North Congress Avenue saw the child crossing southbound across Gateway at about 11 p.m. Sunday night and rushed to save her from being run over.

“Several witnesses jumped from their vehicles to retrieve the child for fear she would be ran over by a passing vehicle,” a Boynton Beach police officer wrote in the report.

“It should be noted that the child crossed a total of six lanes of traffic in an intersection that is monitored by multiple traffic cameras due to the volume of traffic in that area.”
