(WNYW-TV) One of the active ingredients in nail polish remover is acetone. It’s also a component used in the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine.

CVS drug stores is requiring anyone wanting to purchase acetone-based nail polish remover show identification in an attempt to curb the making of the illegal drug.

The drug store chain is also limiting the number of bottles of remover that can be purchased.
