(WMC-TV) – Officials found two guns and one knife on different Shelby County Schools campuses in the span of just five school days.

Southwind High School senior Contyria Grey says school officials cannot seem to control the problem, so the students sometimes feel helpless.

“They set rules but don’t nobody listen to them. So I don’t know what they should do,” she said.

Last Thursday, a gun in a 5-year-old’s backpack discharged in an elementary school cafeteria. On Monday, staff members caught a 13-year-old with an unloaded gun on campus. Then on Tuesday, officials found a knife in an elementary student’s backpack.
