Oral Roberts University is set to host a televised special for the “9/11 Day of Prayer and Repentance” next week where the featured speaker will be none other than the bestselling author of “The Harbinger,” Rabbi Jonathan Cahn.
The university, located in Tulsa, Okla., will televise its event through the online channel GEB America next Wednesday. It will coincide with related festivities across the nation.
The “9/11 Day of Prayer & Repentance” is a movement that began in April as an editorial column that appeared at WND.com written by WND CEO and Founder Joseph Farah.
Within days of its appearance, the response came from thousands of readers wishing to enlist themselves and their families, church groups, Bible studies and neighbors in the call to prayer and repentance.
Overwhelmed by the outpouring, Farah noted about the “9/11” call to action: “When America was founded 237 years ago, fellow believers fought to establish and protect the role of God in the fabric of our country. We are a nation originally built on and by prayer. Today, as Christians, we can look around and readily see that our beloved homeland is tragically broken and our culture is breaking down and dramatically moving away from God. Those of us who understand the challenges we face for the very survival of America as we have known it as one nation under God must start planning now to do something radical.”
That something is the 2013 nationwide Day of Prayer and Repentance.
The call for 9/11 to be a day of prayer and repentance has been endorsed by some of the nation’s faith leaders as well as stars in their own fields, such as actor, author and martial arts champion Chuck Norris, the famed Promise Keepers men’s group that organized the massive “Stand in the Gap” prayer event in Washington in 1997, where, unlike many “million-person” events, there actually were more than a million attendees, and longtime songwriter and singer Charlie Daniels.
That list includes:
- Actor Chuck Norris
- Evangelist Greg Laurie
- U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann
- Radio host Mancow Muller
- Author Barry Farber
- Historian David Barton
- Singer-songwriter Charlie Daniels

Cahn is known for bringing out the deep mysteries and rich revelations of God’s word, as well as restoring the original biblical Jewish context and flavor of the New Testament.
He leads Hope of the World, an outreach dedicated to spreading the word of God and the love of God to all who need, through television, radio, shortwave, and more, and through projects of compassion to the world’s poorest.
Cahn also leads the Jerusalem Center (& Beth Israel) a worship center made up of Jew and Gentile, people of all nations – located in Wayne, N.J., outside New York City.
Charlie Daniels told WND, “I am very much with you, and every day is a day of prayer for me. A lot of people pray for America, but to put a focal point on it, to unite people behind it, to let them know they’re not by themselves, there are millions of people out there doing the same thing … I’m very much in agreement with it. My hat’s off to you for doing that.
“You know, God is in control of [America],” Daniels continued. “If He decides He’s going to shut it down, He’s going to shut it down. 2 Chronicles does say, ‘If my people called by my name repent of their wicked ways and pray, I will hear from heaven and heal their land.’ That’s a promise from the Creator of the universe.”
Jason Crabb, the reigning GMA Dove Awards’ Artist of the year, took his endorsement one step further when he agreed to serve on the Special Advisory Council for the “9/11 Day of Prayer and Repentance” being observed next week nationally. In accepting the appointment to the special committee, Crabb joins a select group of high profile nationally recognized Christian influences that includes Bachman, Laurie, Chuck Norris and singer Pat Boone, among others.

An invitation to the event:
Farah says he made the call for the day of prayer out of a sense of frustration with politics and the decline in morality in the country. He suspects there is a connection between the revealing of national "sins" and the desire by believers to confess their own sins to God in unity with other believers.
Cahn's work includes "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment," a two-hour documentary about Bible prophecy unfolding today – an ancient judgment that befell Israel repeating itself in America.
Both the book and the movie reveal shocking parallels between events in ancient Israel described in chapter 9 of Isaiah and what is happening in America since 9/11.
