(MIRROR) — The lead singer of a heavy metal Christian rock band will stand trial for allegedly attempting to “hire a hitman” to kill his estranged wife.
Tim Lambesis, the lead singer of Grammy-nominated band As I Lay Dying, is set to stand trial in California and faces up to nine years in prison if convicted.
He was arrested in May and charged with soliciting the murder of his wife, Meggan Lambesis, who had filed for divorce a year earlier. They had been married eight years.
Lambesis , 32, has pleaded not guilty and his lawyer says the singer was set up and has never harmed his wife in the past.
