Glenn Beck inks deal to become movie star

Glenn Beck is already a giant in the world of media, experiencing massive success as a television and radio host, as well as being a bestselling author.
Now, he’s about to add film actor to his bucket list, and he won’t be portraying himself on the silver screen.
Beck, who is a darling of the tea-party movement and many on the political right, will actually team up with MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell, a noted leftist, as they play “the ultimate cop/buddy team” in a horror film titled “Director’s Cut.”
The driving force behind the project is Penn Jillette, the well-known magician, author, comedian, actor and outspoken atheist.
“I’m friends with Glenn Beck. I’m friends with Lawrence O’Donnell,” says Jillette on his FundAnything.com website promoting the movie, which is being financed by public donations. “I don’t believe anyone else in the world can claim both of these things. And I disagree with both of them, almost as much as they disagree with each other.”
Jillette explains on his blog:
I have gotten a tentative okay from BOTH Glenn and Lawrence to be in “Director’s Cut.” They have both agreed to appear AND ACT in “Director’s Cut.” Yeah, you’ve seen them in movies before, but it’s always playing themselves or generic newscasters. In our movie (and we’re all making this together), they will be playing police officers discussing their “good cop/bad cop” strategy. Lawrence and Glenn have never met before but they will meet in person on the set of “Director’s Cut.”
The film is being marketed with the tagline of “Help Make Penn a Bad Guy,” to help encourage donations.
So far, some $884,648 has been raised, with a stated goal of $999,972.
In a promotional video for the film’s production, Beck says, “Penn Jillette wants to be a bad guy. Why? So Lawrence O’Donnell will like him a little more? Is that what it is? The atheist wants to be a bad guy? Really, Penn?”
“The guy needs a shrink, and he thinks he needs a movie,” O’Donnell notes.
Jillette says he chose to bypass Hollywood’s production of the flick because of its opposition to “this” movie.
“I shopped ‘Director’s Cut’ all around Hollywood,” he writes. “Everyone who read it said they loved it (but they lie), but they thought it was too smart for you. They didn’t think it was too smart for THEM. These guys think they’re smarter than YOU. Hollywood thought my script was really clever and creepy and funny and scary, but … it’s not the formulaic, cookie cutter bullsh– they’re comfortable making.
He continued: “‘Director’s Cut’ is a crazy idea for a movie. It’s different than anything you’ve seen before. It’s scary, funny, and very meta. I like movies that are scary, but I don’t want them to be dirt dumb. I want a movie that gets my blood racing, makes me laugh, but also gives me something to think about, with maybe a little sexy thrown in. Hollywood doesn’t make movies like that.”
One WND reader who is a Glenn Beck fan was not thrilled with the news, saying, “This is a really bad move on Glenn’s part. He’s gonna live to regret this one.”
