(USATODAY) — The coldest air of the season is poised to sweep across the central and eastern USA over the next few days. In fact, most of the nation to the east of the Rockies should see well below-average temperatures for the remainder of the week and into the weekend.
Frost and freeze warnings had been posted for several states in the Midwest for Tuesday morning, where temperatures will be more typical of mid-November than mid-October.
In the upper Midwest on Tuesday, some light snow will accompany the cold blast. In Chicago, a mix of rain and snow is in the forecast for Tuesday, according to AccuWeather. This would be the Windy City’s first flakes since last April.
