His story has been hard to ignore: An agent in the elite Presidential Protective Division of the Secret Service who witnessed the wielding of power in Washington from President Obama’s side is speaking out after resigning in the prime of his career.
Now, Dan Bongino’s “Life Inside the Bubble: Why a Top-Ranked Secret Service Agent Walked Away From It All,” published by WND Books, has reached the New York Times bestseller list.
Among non-fiction ebooks, it will be ranked No. 13 for the coming week.
“I’m thrilled for Dan Bongino, who is a great American,” said Joseph Farah, founder of WND and WND Books, which published “Life Inside the Bubble.” “It’s also another triumph for WND Books, which, very quietly over the last decade, has established itself as the publisher boasting the highest percentage of New York Times bestsellers. In fact, it’s not even close. About 10 percent of WND Books become New York Times bestsellers. Most major New York publishers would be thrilled to reach 1 percent. You would think someone in the publishing industry would want to understand why that is. But, to date, no one is asking the question.”
Bongino, who resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 and now is running for Congress, charges that the Washington, D.C., lobbyists, cronies, staff, acolytes, consultants and bureaucrats surrounding the president create a “bubble” that distorts his view of the world and detaches him from the tragic results of his poor policy choices.
As WND reported, Bongino, in his run for Congress in Maryland’s Sixth District, is “signing a contract” with citizens – featured on the splash page of his website – to help him avoid the corruption into which so many lawmakers fall in the nation’s capital.
He has the endorsement of former Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., who said Bongino left the Secret Service at the height of his success “because he is an American patriot and the embodiment of the highest standards of honor, integrity and character … exactly what we need inside the bubble.”
Bongino has plenty to say about the major issues facing the nation, including Obamacare.
He learned first-hand how Obamacare is affecting Americans when he lost his own health insurance plan and was faced with a premium spike along with worse coverage, as WND reported.
But he has the wider picture in view.
“For as bad as you think this is, we haven’t even seen the health-care apocalypse coming once the employer mandate kicks in and that website actually works, and people start to see the pricing for real,” he said in an interview with WND.
Bongino told WND Obama doesn’t seem to understand the level of outrage among the populace toward his health-care law.
“It’s obvious right now to just about all of America that this thing has been an abysmal failure,” he said of Obamacare. But Obama “cares more about political successes than he does policy successes.”
Bongino began his career in law enforcement with the NYPD in 1995. He joined the ranks of the Secret Service in 1999 as a special agent where he was assigned to investigate financial crimes. In 2006, he entered into duty with the elite Presidential Protective Division in the administration of President George W. Bush and remained on protective duty during the change in administration to President Barack Obama. He resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 to run for a U.S. Senate seat in Maryland.
