(DETROIT FREE-PRESS) A Dearborn Heights homeowner was arraigned on charges including second-degree murder this afternoon in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old woman on his porch earlier this month.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced this morningthat her office was charging Theodore Wafer, 54, with second-degree murder, manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the attempted commission or commission of a felony. He is accused of fatally shooting Renisha McBride in the face on Nov. 2 on his porch.

This afternoon, Wafer appeared in Dearborn Heights’ 20th District Court before Judge Mark J. Plawecki, where he waived a reading of the charges during his arraignment.
