Bongino punches GOP establishment, again

Former Secret Service agent and congressional candidate Dan Bongino is taking another swipe at Republican leaders for what he sees as their abandonment of the conservative issues and positions on which the GOP is based.
Bongino, author of the New York Times bestseller “Life Inside the Bubble,” particularly has taken umbrage with the budget deal that was pushed through by GOP leaders and their Democratic counterparts in Congress in recent days.
“Do we, as a party, stand for something or not? Forfeiting away our future, breaking promises to our nation’s veterans and failing to acknowledge that we have accumulated a national debt larger than the value of everything we produce in the country in an entire year is not governing; it’s cowardice,” Bongino declared in a message on Facebook.
“If today’s Democratic Party wants to own debt, joblessness, big-govt medicine, and prioritizing those who have violated our laws over those who have shed blood defending what those laws represent, then they can have it,” he said. “I will have no part of it.”
Bongino, a Republican candidate for Maryland’s 6th congressional district seat, cannot support the budget deal, calling it another sign of the hubris of the leaders of his party.
“I cannot, and will not, support a ‘managed decline.’ Sadly, those who wish to preserve their power at the expense of the country know no better. There is better, but when you are blinded by power ‘better’ is only defined by your next election,” he said.
It’s the second broadside from Bongino against the Republican establishment in days.
Last week, he took to social media to denounce statements by House Speaker John Boehner that insulted the conservative grassroots and others who opposed the budget deal.
Published by WND Books, “Life Inside the Bubble” tells the story of Bongino’s experiences inside the Washington, D.C., “matrix” – including within the inner sanctum of the White House – and shows readers why a government filled with some very dedicated people nevertheless continues to make tragic and perhaps fatal mistakes.
Bongino’s book has been endorsed by several commentators and public figures, including talk show hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin and former Rep. Allen West.
Bongino began his career in law enforcement with the NYPD in 1995. He joined the ranks of the Secret Service in 1999 as a special agent where he was assigned to investigate financial crimes. In 2006, he entered into duty with the elite Presidential Protective Division in the administration of President George W. Bush and remained on protective duty during the change in administration to President Barack Obama. He resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 to run for a U.S. Senate seat in Maryland.
His book recently was the focus of a Christmas celebration at WND’s Washington, D.C.-area headquarters.
“It was a great opportunity for all of us at WND to congratulate Dan in the spirit of Christmas, a word we’re not ashamed of or fear using around here,” said Joseph Farah, founder of WND and WND Books. “It was a night first and foremost for thanking Jesus the Messiah for everything we have and for the gift of grace and redemption He gives all those who ask for it in His name. It was secondarily a night of tribute and honor to a great man – Dan Bongino.”
“Life Inside the Bubble” is one of more than a dozen New York Times bestsellers published and marketed by WND Books in a decade of publishing more than 100 titles. Those numbers reflect the highest percentage of New York Times bestsellers of any publisher in the world – more than 10 percent.
“It’s not even a close call,” said Farah. “The biggest publishers in America would be happy with a 1 percent ratio and seldom achieve it. I don’t believe any other publisher has achieved a ratio of even 5 percent. Our secret is the tender-loving care we give each release at WND Books. We treat each title like it’s one of our babies. We nurture it. We give it our undivided attention. We love it through each process from conception, delivery and infancy and adulthood and we never give up on them.”
Founded in 2002 by WND’s Joseph and Elizabeth Farah, WND Books made an immediate impact with its first No. 1 New York Times bestseller, Michael Savage’s “The Savage Nation.” Several more bestsellers from the upstart rocked the publishing world. Within two years of its launch, every major U.S. publisher had created imprints to compete head-to-head with WND Books in its niche for edgy, controversial current events titles. WND Books prides itself on providing to the reading public important, timely and entertaining books that impact the public debate.
