(DigitalJournal) Former orienteering mapmaker Simon Beck bought an apartment in Savoie in 2004 and discovered a new passion: painting snow art with his feet. His canvasses lie in the snowfields of Les Arcs where his landscapes are inevitably purchased by Mother Nature.
Beck's artwork has been compared to crop circles for the immense size and complexity in scope, and some of his works resemble crystalline structures of snowflakes and other geometric patterns. A few of his large-scale endeavors have spanned three football fields, but regardless of scale, all of his projects begin simply enough in sketches guided by a protractor and ruler.
