(Politico) A date has been set for the president and the pope to meet at the end of March, the White House announced Tuesday.

President Barack Obama will meet with Pope Francis when he travels to Vatican City on March 27 as part of a four-day trip to Europe, according to a release sent by the White House.

The meeting between the two has been expected after Secretary of State John Kerry hinted at a visit by the president during his own trip to the Vatican last week.
