WASHINGTON — A conservative filmmaker has a suspicion as to why his colleague, Dinesh D’Souza, was just indicted on federal charges of violating campaign finance laws.

Dennis Michael Lynch, a successful filmmaker in his own right, sees a political motive behind the charge.

“Is he guilty of what it is they claim he did? I have no idea,” Lynch told WND. But, he added, “Guilty or not, they’re going to throw him into the mud to discredit his name.”

Watch the movie that explains it all. The movie that everyone is talking about. The movie the White House doesn’t want you to see!

And why would “they” do that? Because, Lynch pointed out, D’Souza has another film coming out, right before the 2014 midterm elections.

D’Souza’s last film, “2016: Obama’s America” was highly critical of the president and became the second-highest grossing political documentary of all time.

“What Dinesh D’Souza proved is there is a huge appetite, a huge audience, for the kinds of films that he and I make. That’s why it won’t happen again. Because, the other side knows that. And they want to make sure that doesn’t happen,” observed Lynch.

He said what D’Souza accomplished is extremely rare, because it is almost impossible for conservatives to get distributors to show their films in theaters. Almost all conservative filmmakers have to sell their movies as DVDs.

“Dinesh was the exception. He had the perfect storm. Everything lined up. He went about it the right way,” he said.

WND asked if the great success of D’Souza’s film was evidence that conservative filmmakers are being blackballed?

“I’m going to be on ‘The Kelly File’ tonight, and that’s exactly what I’m going to say,” said Lynch on Friday.

Lynch is a frequent guest on Fox News and is well-known for his films on immigration, “They Come to America” and “They Come to America II: The Cost of Amnesty.”

He said other networks will not interview him because his films have the evidence to back up his conservative claims, and that “really scares them.”

Lynch thinks he has just the opposite of a credibility problem. He believes the fact the NSA asked permission to use his work on terrorism was a particularly strong endorsement of his credibility. And, he believes filmmakers such as himself and D’Souza are so credible the mainstream media won’t go near them.

He said if D’Souza and he were on the other side, they’d be “superheroes” in the mainstream media, like Michael Moore.

“How can Michael Moore make an anti-capitalism film then go buy a mansion on a lake? Where’s his investigation? Why doesn’t anybody ever look into him? He uses creative editing.”

Lynch related how he has been a victim of “creative editing” by the mainstream media.

“I’ve been on shows where they take the tape and use my answers to questions I wasn’t asked. For instance, they might ask what’s my favorite vacation place, and I’d say Mexico. Then later, they ask me what do you hate most in the world? I say pasta, but they use ‘Mexico.’”

Lynch said that after ‘The Daily Show’ creatively edited him and “made me say things I didn’t say,” he received threats. He said his attorney tried to get the show to remove the comments, but without success.

“You know what they tell me? ‘Tough.’ They will do anything they can to discredit you.”

Lynch said, every single day, someone in the film industry or outside of it, tells him to be careful.

He thinks the indictment of D’Souza is an attempt to discredit him, because the timing is so suspect.

But, Lynch believes the attempt to besmirch D’Souza will boomerang because of the old adage, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

“Actually, this is going to be a huge win for Dinesh. He couldn’t get more lucky. He’s going through the pain right now, but when that new film comes out it’s going to be the talk of the town.”

Lynch told WND he has been seated next to D’Souza on the press row during events and listened to his radio interviews and was impressed with what he heard.

“This guy has got his heart in the right place. He has come out against the president, but nothing in his film has been shown to be false. Everything has been shown to be true.”

Lynch said he is working on a film right now to be released in about a month called “We Ride to D.C.”

“Its about all the (conservative) marches that take place in D.C. and how the liberal media never covers them.”
