NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – A former Secret Service agent for President Obama and now a Republican congressional candidate in Maryland, Dan Bongino went after his old boss in a speech at the CPAC annual conservative conference, warning the president's health care law will "devastate communities."
"People are going to die," he said, warning that health care in the U.S. will degrade to the efficiency of government bureaucracies such as the Postal Service.
"Do you want to go to a bureaucrat to crack your chest open when you need a heart operation?" he asked.
Bongino is the author of the New York Times bestseller "Life Inside the Bubble," published by WND Books.

His candidacy for Maryland's 6th Congressional District seat has drawn the endorsement of former Republican Rep. Allen West of Florida, who called him a "patriot" and an "exceptional American."
The WND Superstore has Dan Bongino’s fascinating insider story, "Life Inside the Bubble."
Bongino said he's "the middle class American" Obama speaks about.
"We’ve been sold out to big government and big business," he said. "We can rise up and do something about it, or you can become part of the problem. It’s your choice."
Bongino noted that when he was a member of the Secret Service, he took an oath to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
"That is my same dedication today," he said.
He recalled that as a Brooklyn police officer, he asked a young child what he wanted to become, and he said, “DZ.” Bongino later found out “DZ” was a local drug dealer.
"We are losing to Democrats and liberals who are creating nothing but chaos, decimating families, the lives of children," he said. "They are kicking our butts arguing emotion, even though Democrats and liberals are the party of good intentions gone awry."
He said Republicans need to be talking every day about "school choice," alternatives to the failing public school system.
"I am only up here speaking in coherent sentences because I was a charity case," he said. "Kids dropping out of school were sold out by liberals who only care about unions, not about educating children."
He said liberals will never stop fighting, as their goal is power.
"Never forget, men and women have sacrificed everything to make sure your days are prosperous. You owe it to that kid who told me he wanted to be a drug dealer to make sure he does not waste his life," he said.
"You must fight the good fight. Never give up.
Bongino served as a Secret Service agent under Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. In "Life Inside the Bubble", he tells of his experiences inside the Washington, D.C., "matrix" – including within the inner sanctum of the White House – and explains how a government filled with some very dedicated people nevertheless makes tragic and sometimes fatal mistakes.
He began his career in law enforcement with the NYPD in 1995. He joined the ranks of the Secret Service in 1999 as a special agent where he was assigned to investigate financial crimes. In 2006, he entered into duty with the elite Presidential Protective Division in the administration of Bush and remained on protective duty during the change in administration to Obama.
Bongino resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 to run for a U.S. Senate seat in Maryland.
