(WASHINGTON TIMES) Vice President Joseph R. Biden on Friday cheered a decision by Pennsylvania’s Republican governor not to challenge a court ruling that struck down the state’s voter ID law.
“Justice is served. No appeal of unjust voter ID law is a victory for Pennsylvania,” Mr. Biden’s office wrote on Twitter in response to the decision by Gov. Tom Corbett. Mr. Biden grew up in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Corbett, who is running for reelection this year, decided against an appeal of a state court ruling Thursday that rejected the law he signed in 2012. The governor said that although he supports the law, the court “made clear that in order for a voter identification law to be found constitutional, changes must be made to address accessibility to photo identifications.”
