Who really wants to end abortion? Not talk about ending abortion. Not march about ending abortion. I’m looking for the 1 percent of the church who are willing to do what it takes to end abortion. You don’t have to travel anywhere or even carry a sign. All you have to do is download an app for your Android or iPhone that will dial a dozen reps for you every day. It doesn’t matter where you live; your calls will matter – in fact, theses legislators are getting so many calls, most offices have stopped asking for an address! How will this end abortion? Keep reading.

We know abortion stops a beating heart. We’ve seen the bumper stickers for decades. But what if a beating heart could stop abortion? It can. That heartbeat isn’t the beginning of life, but it is a universally accepted indicator of life, and with a Heartbeat Law, if a heartbeat is detected, the baby is protected.

Both Arkansas and North Dakota have already passed Heartbeat Laws – the most protective pro-life laws in the nation. Heartbeat Bills have also been introduced in Ohio, Alabama, Kansas, Texas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Wyoming, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Alabama and New York.

Here’s where we need you. We have until Dec. 31 to pass the Heartbeat Bill that started it all – in the state called “the heart of it all,” Ohio. Why does Ohio matter? Because 26,000 babies the bill will save each year matter. And because this bill was crafted to be the arrow to strike the heart of Roe v. Wade.

Ohio “pro-life” leadership doesn’t want to pass it, but there’s a proven way to go around them to get a floor vote. It’s called a “Discharge Petition” and with about three dozen more names, we will get our vote. The bad news: It was only used successfully once. The good news: We were the ones who used it.

Back in 1994, when the nation’s first Partial Birth Abortion Ban was held up in an Ohio committee, there was “no way” to get it out. It was “dead.” Getting a floor vote was said to be “impossible.”

But men like Speaker Bill Batchelder and Chairman Lynn Watchmann challenged the establishment and signed that discharge petition. And the Partial Birth Abortion Ban became law, followed by 30 states, Congress and a Supreme Court victory in 2007.

It all began in Ohio with an “impossible” Discharge Petition. And it can happen again even though Speaker Bill Batchelder, Chairman Lynn Watchmann and Senate President Keith Faber have become the establishment trying to block an immediate floor vote. You see, once you’ve seen Goliath fall, no one can tell you it can’t be done – especially in a state whose motto is: “With God all things are possible.”

So here’s the plan on how you can help END abortion this year. It’s called “Operation Persistent Widow” – the biblical principle found in red letters, because Jesus said it:

“One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. ‘There was a judge in a certain city,’ he said, ‘who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, “Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.” The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, “I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests !”‘ Then the Lord said, ‘Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end.’” (Luke 18:1-6 NLT)

Before Winston Churchill said it, Jesus said what we’re going to do: “never give up.” And now, for the first time in our grass-roots history, we have a phone app that will dial the reps for you! You can download it at F2A.org or HeartBeatBill.net and start calling! It’s never been easier to make such a big difference. Touch the name of the targeted member, and it dials for you while you drive to work, watch the kids at the park, or go for a walk.

Here’s the good news: It’s already working! All we need is about three dozen more names to force a floor vote. More are being added each week because of your calls – which have already turned emphatic “noes” into signatures on the petition. Why? Because these representatives discovered it’s the “right thing to do”? Maybe. More likely, we wore them out.

Go to HeartBeatBill.net and pick a time you’re willing to call – so their phones ring all day long! We’re just asking for these people, who have run on pro-life promises, to keep their word and stop the killing right now by signing the Discharge Petition. Yes, they can sign it even on summer recess! Commit to call every day until they’re so sick of us they sign the Discharge Petition and pass this bill! Call a dozen a day – every day – until they know you by name and give us what we want. The list will be updated as members sign.

I’m looking for a church that will make this their pro-life project. A youth group that wants to end abortion enough to spend 10 minutes a day doing what it takes. We also need intercessors, because we need supernatural stamina and perseverance to “never give up.”

Please email me and let me know if you, your church or group is “in” – if you’re want to END abortion enough to spend 10 minutes a day to make sure of it. Whether you use the app or dial by hand, you can end abortion from right where you are. Because, once we end abortion in Ohio, we’re going to move to Alabama, Kansas, Texas … the next state closest to passing the bill to keep hearts beating. When just 1 percent of the church shows up – abortion ends … this year.
