A video has been released that profiles the return to Normandy’s beaches by one of the thousands of paratroopers who landed there 70 years ago on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

The landing preceded what was the largest amphibious assault ever in wartime – and launched the wave of military victories that culminated in the downfall of the Third Reich, under Adolf Hitler.

The project, posted on the NRA Life of Duty.TV website, was a Frontlines production sponsored by FNH USA and called “Normandy: A Hero Returns.”

It opens with Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower giving instructions to the invaders, and he says, “Let us beseech the blessing of an Almighty God on this great and noble undertaking,” to free the millions put under Nazism by Hitler’s conquer-the-world strategy.

Lt. Col. Oliver North travels with World War II veteran paratrooper John Perozzi, 94, to revisit key locations and talk about his vivid memories.

The tribute explains that the 70th anniversary will be the last for some of the veterans, whose numbers are diminishing rapidly.

They are described as “heroes who helped to free a continent from a reign of tyranny.”
