The Gideon Media Arts and Film Festival, now in its 8th year, has become one of the premiere festivals for showcasing family and faith-based films. This year's screening will include the top independent Christian film for 2014, "God Is Not Dead," which has earned over $60 million at the box office against a $2 million production budget. A Q&A session with the movie's filmmakers will follow the screening, which begins on Friday, July 11, at 8 p.m. EST.
Other top films being shown during the five-day festival (July 11-15, 2014) includes the 2011 Academy Award winner for Best Picture, "The Artist." New independent Christian films are also in the lineup, such as "Touched by Grace," "The War Within" and "Like a Country Song."
In addition, the festival will host a number of workshops from some of the industry's top filmmakers, writers, actors and marketers. Attendees can select from over 50 workshops on acting, screenwriting, film production, marketing and distribution. Escobar is among the dozen instructors. Escobar is presenting weekend sessions on feature filmmaking for narratives and documentaries, focusing on the production of "Blood Moons" and other films such as the recent theatrical release of "Alone Yet Not Alone," which Escobar also co-directed/co-wrote.
Copies of the "Blood Moons" book and movie will be available at the festival. They can also be purchased as a bundle at the WND Superstore.
The Gideon Media Arts and Film Festival is being held from July 11-15, 2014, at the Orlando Marriott Hotel – 7499 Augusta National Drive, Orlando, Florida. Registration for workshops and screenings is still open at the Gideon Film Festival website.
