Tennessee's Aug 7 Senate primary race is much more than a We the People candidate versus the establishment incumbent.
The race is an opportunity for conservative state Rep. Joe Carr to dethrone Tennessee's incumbent RINO tax king, Sen. Lamar Alexander.
Lamar Alexander's voting record shows that over 62 percent of the time he voted with Barack Obama, "more frequently than any other Republican senator from the South." The fiscal cliff tax-hike bill that raised payroll taxes, income taxes, death taxes, capital gains taxes and dividend taxes, which increased taxes by more than $600 billion, earns top billing on the senator's list of tax votes, along with the omnibus spending bill. Add to that hearty mix of taxes Alexander's votes for bailouts, Cash for Clunkers and the Internet sales tax bill, and it's not difficult at all to see why the two-term senator earns the title of Tax King of Tennessee.
Lamar Alexander also got on board with a vote for the farm bill that ultimately resulted in expanding Food Stamps. And the Tax King completely disregarded the mother of all government spending woes – the national budget – when he voted "No" on Sen. Rand Paul's proposal that would have balanced the budget in five years and completely overhauled all entitlement programs. (But isn't that typically the case when RINOs are presented with alternatives to massive government overreach?)

Such sellout voting spurns conservative values of not only Tennesseans, but also conservatives nationwide by undermining efforts to rein in reckless spending while simultaneously helping Big Government expand its reach into taxpayer's lives. It's evident that Tennessee's Tax King pompously mocks adherence to responsible conservative politics. He proudly touts his crown as he helps kingpin Obama fundamentally trample underfoot American Exceptionalism.
Furthermore, Lamar Alexander stands in league with Obama on amnesty. He tossed his vote here, too, with the Gang of Eight faux-amnesty bill that did zilch to actually deal with immigration problems. Our borders are unsecured and wildly unsafe. They are more than simply "open"; they are non-existent. Obama is now considering flying illegal immigrants from Honduras to America instead of crossing through Mexico to ensure their safe passage into our homeland. Unbelievable.
In Alexander's own backyard, 760 Central American immigrant children have been dispersed without Tennessee Gov. Haslam's knowledge. This is not immigration reform; this is U.S. immigration policy ignored. Any semblance of reformation that would have been – should have been – instituted has been kicked to the curb and trampled underfoot by illegal immigrants. Lamar Alexander helped to open wide the doors to illegal aliens, and Barack Obama ushered them all – inoculated or not, drug cartels and rapists notwithstanding – into mainstream America.
Conservative state Rep. Joe Carr, on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air, a true conservative leader that Tennesseans – and all Americans – can count on to uphold conservative ideals and principles. Carr defends the unborn and is 100 percent pro-life. He also champions free enterprise, small business and limited government. He is a lifelong member of the NRA. He has to his credits legislation that has helped earn Tennessee bragging rights as the fourth-most business-friendly state in the nation.
Joe Carr is credited with having enacted some of the toughest immigration laws on the books and sponsored legislation that resulted in mandating E-Verify. Four thousand businesses in Tennessee voluntarily participate in the program. Protective legislation such as E-Verify tells Tennesseans who is really out to protect their families, keep taxpayer money in the taxpayer's pocket and reduce the unemployment rate. (Hint: It ain't Lamar Alexander.)
Joe Carr has proven his salt with immigration reform, but he hasn't stopped there. Rep. Carr is tenaciously taking Alexander to task on the border crisis. Carr is calling for Alexander to support Sen. Ted Cruz's bill to halt any further growth of Barack Obama's amnesty program. Carr boldly asserts that Alexander should "take responsibility for his role in creating this crisis and start taking a leadership role in fixing it."
Carr further states, "The humanitarian crisis on our southern border is a direct consequence of reckless policies championed by President Barack Obama and Lamar Alexander. The only viable solution is to begin enforcing the law, end the Obama-Alexander amnesty policy, and empower governors to take action."
If elected, Carr promises to legislate in the best interest of the America people according to constitutional and conservative ideals. Carr wants to repeal or defund Obamacare, as well as repeal the Dodd-Frank Act. Carr also wants to tighten the noose on the EPA and drill for oil both offshore and onshore. His supporters include former Gov. Sarah Palin, political commentator Laura Ingraham, more than 20 Republican Tennessee legislators, national conservative PACs and organizations as well as many tea party groups.
I live in Tennessee, and I'm proud that our organization is traveling to the Volunteer State this week to help support Joe Carr through our efforts, which include media, boots-on-the ground and a phone-from-home campaign. Conservative Tennesseans are counting on us – all of us – to help them oust their Tax King and replace him with a true representative of We the People.
