It's a bird! A plane! Supermoon!
Did you see it? Don't fret. If you missed it, you'll have two more chances this summer to take in the breathtaking sight of what's being called the "super moon," a full moon that appears as much as 30 percent brighter and 14 percent larger than regular full moons.
OK, it's really not super. It just looks that way when it's on the rise because of its orbital position, or perigee, when the moon is closest to Earth.
Dr. James Garvin, chief scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, talked about the super moon phenomenon in a 2011 interview: "'Supermoon' is a situation when the moon is slightly closer to Earth in its orbit than on average, and this effect is most noticeable when it occurs at the same time as a full moon. So, the moon may seem bigger although the difference in its distance from Earth is only a few percent at such times."

Twitter aggregator Twitchy grabbed a few of the best. To enhance your moon watch, I suggest that you listen to this as the golden orb ascends on its next super moonrise. According to NASA, super moons occur again on Aug. 10 and Sept. 9.

From a report in the Daily Mail, Robert Matthews of Aston University says that if string can get into knots, it will: "Building on earlier mathematical research, he concluded that string really does have a perverse tendency to knot spontaneously. He also found the longer the string is, the more likely it is to spontaneously knot. Joining the ends together dramatically reduces the probability of the string performing the manoeuvres needed to form knots, making tangling less likely, something he calls the Loop Conjecture."
