TEL AVIV -- A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces told WND the Israeli military is "investigating" a claim by Hamas to have kidnapped an Israeli soldier on Sunday. The lack of a denial about Hamas's claim could indicate the IDF cannot immediately account for the whereabouts of one of its soldiers.
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the so-called military wing of Hamas, released the name and even military identification number of the soldier it claims to have kidnapped.Hamas spokesperson Abu Ubaida stated the allegedly captured soldier is named Shaul Aron and that his Israeli military ID number was 6092065."The fact that they (Israel) did not announce (the loss of the soldier) shows that they were trying to hide their losses," stated Ubaida, according to the Palestinian Maán news agency.Ubaida warned Israel against taking "any kind of foolishness" in response to the alleged kidnapping, apparently referring to any rescue attempt.
