Governments rule by the consent of the people. When government fails to rule, the people look to change government. It's as simple as that. Politicians seem to think once they are elected, then it's all about raising money for the next election. And it's at this point politician's lose touch with the people.
Congress has an approval rating of seven percent currently. The president of the United States in one poll has an approval rating of 21 percent. You'd think that there's some kind of contest between the politicians in Washington, D.C. Actually what is going on is called partisan politics. Elected politicians only care about their party's agenda and not about issues the American people have.
The president is plagued with scandals: Veterans Affairs, IRS and Benghazi. The president's most recent misstep for America has been with illegal immigration. Congress has just become a place where partisan politics is the business of the day. Then, of course, there are the more than 200 lobbyists for everyone in Congress. Lobbyists push their agenda, an agenda that has nothing to do with the welfare of the country.
The enemies of our country are very aware of our leadership issues. Russia and Iran are not above taking advantage of the current political malaise Americans are dealing with. If America is to stay strong and continue to be a beacon for the free world, we need better leadership in Washington, D.C.
