(ABC.NET.AU) — A row has broken out in Italy after a photographer dressed up a set of famous Greek statues in a leopard-print g-string, white wedding veil and pink feather boa.

The Riace Bronzes are 2,500 years old and are considered some of Italy’s greatest archaeological treasures.

French photographer Gerald Bruneau was given permission to shoot the warriors at their museum in the country’s south, but the work was stopped when he was discovered dressing the statues.
