As the swirling dust settles on what has been the greatest rock ‘n’ roll tour of my life, I sit here slamming out another WND piece on my beautiful Texas SpiritWild Ranch, and the old MotorCity guitar player smiles knowingly that my American Dream remains at peak operating condition at the tender age of 65.8 years.

Somebody pinch me or just slap me silly!

Already knee deep into what will be the greatest hunting season of my lifetime of hunting, it has never been better to be Ted Nugent than here in the fall of 2014.

All the important things in life are dead-nuts in the ten ring for me and my family, and we thank God every day for all we have and all we are.

I look to the heavens on a daily basis, awestruck at my good fortunes.

I can gauge my happiness on any number of life’s most meaningful priorities and come away smiling broadly.

The love of my family is off the charts, and my wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sister and entire family are rocking, healthy and happy.

The intensity and sheer fun of my music 50-plus years later is beyond any dreams I may have had back when I started jamming in the 1950s. My audiences are the ultimate soulmusic loving audiences in the world, and to them I give a hearty thank you on behalf of my incredible band, crew, management and entire amazing professional, insanely hardworking, gungho Nugent team.

Our Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild TV show on Outdoor Channel, celebrating the perfection of our hunting, fishing, trapping, outdoor lifestyle, remains the No. 1 hunting TV show in North America 24 years and running.

I’ve served proudly on the National Rifle Association Board of Directors for 20-something years with some of the most votes ever, standing strong for the self-evident truth of the God-given individual right to self-defense.

My army of true friends are my BloodBrothers, and our bond gets stronger everyday.

All that so-called success is dwarfed by the powerful connection I am blessed to have with so many hero warriors of the U.S. Military and their families, whom I hear from on a daily basis, thanking me for fighting the good fight here at home against the enemies of America and freedom that are running amok in our own country and government.

The greatest barometer of one’s worth is ultimately determined by the number of occasions one is fortunate and blessed enough to be contacted by the families of sick and terminally ill children and family members, for it is in these heartbreaking emotional times that all politics and second guessing are eclipsed by unconditional love and a deep, powerful spiritual connection.

Being involved with every imaginable military charity and children’s charity reminds me daily of the incredible generosity of my fellow Americans. Everyone I know cares deeply and digs deeply to give and give and give and give.

These are the moments and experiences I have been blessed with nonstop going way back to the 1960s, and their faith in me makes me a better man.

In this world of runaway evil terrorism and an embarrassing “fundamentally transforming” government dangerously disconnected from its best citizens, the old adage that “America is going to hell in a hand basket” is painfully appropriate now more than ever. And that is terribly sad and grossly unnecessary.

As we approach the numbing anniversary of 9/11, the danger signs are once again at an all-time red alert. Aware people do what we can to prepare for the worst, while still giving it our very best in everything we do.

We had hoped that our elected employees would perform their duties with as much dedication as we perform ours, but alas, it has not been the case.

This sacred experiment in self-government is not a part-time job for we the people. We thought we could trust our elected employees to live up to their oath to the Constitution and follow the common sense and logic we are committed to and that has created “the last best place.”

So as I salute my entire team, family and friends for always being the best that we can be, now we must turn up the heat and demand the same accountability from our government employees. They have swayed far off track for far too long, and now we must “we the people” up and insist on a correction of direction immediately.

If you put your heart and soul into being the best, most productive American you can be, the American Dream is pretty much a guarantee. If you don’t, and dare to demand what your fellow citizens can do for you, then the guarantee swings the other way, and soulless dependency will be yours.

It’s so simple even guitar players can figure it out.

Thank you, America, for another amazing year of my unstoppable American Dream.

May The Great Spirit be forever at your side, may you invest your sweat equity into your American Dream every day, and may you prod everyone you know to do the same to bring this great country out of its self inflicted fundamental transformation blues, and show the world that “we the people” are still in charge of America.

As I wrote in my killer song “The Great White Buffalo,” my tribute song to my Native American BloodBrothers, “Well listen everybody to what I got to say, there’s hope for tomorrow if we wake up today!”
