Little boys grow up with lots of heroes – caped crusaders in comic books, movie and music icons, teachers, uncles, grandfathers and sports stars, to name a few.
But what about Dad? What would it take to make Dad a hero?
Now Advent Films, makers of the little Christian movie that rocked the Oscars, "Alone Yet Not Alone," is releasing a powerful and entertaining new story aimed at, as the very last verse of the Old Testament declares, turning "the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers."
"Hero" is the story of a legendary children's baseball coach who prioritizes fame and fortune over time with his family. But when his wife takes ill, Joe Finn (played by Burgess Jenkins of "Remember the Titans") returns home and forms a children's baseball league with his now-adult son, David. In an ironic twist, Joe requires the fathers of his new players to prioritize their sons' baseball games over their respective careers.

The Christian movie ministry Movieguide gave "Hero" a glowing review.
"The opening is powerful. The ending is heartrending. In fact, the drama, the acting, the jeopardy work well throughout the whole movie. For a low-budget, faith-filled movie, this is incredible," Movieguide proclaims. "'Hero' will touch your heart, your mind and your soul. It has a strong, inspiring Christian worldview, with many positive messages. … 'Hero' is a wonderful, faith-filled sports drama about God turning a man's heart to his son and a son learning to forgive his father."
Joseph Farah, WND's founder and editor, says "Hero" is just the right medicine for a family wearied by the news of the day and longing to reconnect with one another.
"ISIS got you down? Are you worried about the economy? Ebola, Obama, the border, or a thousand and one other issues? Does it seem like the world is on fire?" Farah asks. "We all need some time to chill and be inspired. That's what the new movie 'Hero' is all about. It's a chill pill – but good for you. Just pop in the DVD with your whole family, watch and let the magic happen."
