(LONDON DAILY MAIL) Smells have long been known to stir strong emotions and memories, and now new research claims that odours can also be used to identify a person’s political beliefs.
Scientists asked volunteers rate sweat samples for attractiveness and discovered that participants found the smell of those who were more ideologically similar to themselves more attractive, than those with opposing views.
Researchers believe that the findings suggest that the link between body odour and political beliefs provides a modern way of signalling compatibility to potential mates.
