Don’t get me wrong.

I’m grateful Secret Service agents didn’t shoot Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, of Copperas Cove, Texas, when he jumped the fence surrounding the White House and walked through the north entrance of the executive mansion last Friday before being stopped.

But, let me ask you a question in light of this incident: Do you really expect Barack Obama to protect you from ISIS terrorists and other threats to the safety and security of the nation?

The White House is surrounded by security details. There are cameras everywhere. Agents are locked and loaded, determined to prevent any existential threats to the first family and others. The nation is on heightened awareness of potential terrorist threats.

Yet, Omar J. Gonzales, 42, of Copperas Cove, Texas, made it all the way to the White House entrance unscathed.

What does this tell you?

It should tell you no one in America is safe as long as Obama is on watch.

Again, he could have been shot down the way dental hygienist Miriam Carey was far from the White House after she made a wrong turn nearly a year ago at a White House barricade. She posed no immediate threat to anyone inside the compound. Those reckless shots were fired by Capitol police, and some of them could have easily hit other innocent bystanders as well. Had Gonzales been shot that would have been an unnecessary tragedy, too.

But why wasn’t he stopped? Why wasn’t he blocked from approaching the White House? Why wasn’t he tackled and handcuffed earlier?

What’s wrong with employing some non-deadly force in a situation like this? Whatever happened to that concept?

My theory is this: Obama is such a bad commander in chief that even a great agency like the Secret Service is compromised and degraded under his leadership.

And, if I’m right, what does that suggest about the military forces of the U.S. today – after they have literally been cut to shreds by Obama?

Or maybe there is another explanation.

Maybe Obama’s laissez-faire attitude toward border intruders is manifesting itself in another form. Obama has no use for borders or immigration laws. He’s made that perfectly clear. All this time I thought he was a hypocrite for not caring about protecting the property rights of average Americans, not caring about the rule of law, not caring about common sense and the national security of the nation when it came to his border policy.

But maybe I was wrong.

Maybe he doesn’t even care about the safety and security of his own family and those who work at the White House. And maybe that’s reflected in this incident.

Some folks who see the irony in this incident started a White House petition suggesting the intruder should be treated just like those border jumpers – with amnesty.

I don’t think Obama will go that far. But who knows?

Again, this turned out to be a non-threatening incident. But I think it’s illustrative of the total breakdown in competence and common sense demonstrated by this White House.

They can’t even be counted on to protect themselves without either the demonstration of excessive force, as we saw in the Miriam Carey slaughter, or the demonstration of no force at all.

One anonymous White House insider explained it this way: “This wasn’t a military-style assault. He had no bag, no backpack, no visible weapons. And from the early reports from the officers he seemed to be mentally disturbed.”

Let me point out the same could be said of Miriam Carey, who certainly wasn’t conducting a military-style assault with her baby daughter in tow. She had no backpack, no visible weapons. The only weapons involved were pointed directly at her and fired until she was dead.

Others explain the presence of tourists at the White House prompted restraint. Excuse me, but there were tourists everywhere last October when Miriam Carey was shot dead – and there were plenty of stray shots fired as well.

The whole thing makes no sense. Welcome to the Obama administration.
