Rock ‘n’ roll icon Ted Nugent is being attacked for thinking that, after the U.S. had spent an estimated $15 trillion through a big government, handout approach unsuccessfully trying to eliminate poverty, it was enough.

He described it as welfare crack.

Nugent, also a sporting and political activist, wrote in his recent weekly WND column that liberalism wasn’t working, and, in fact, was damaging to the country.

“Burn this into your cerebral cortex: The two greatest sins a government can impose on its citizens are to 1) provide for them, because it destroys their souls by creating dependency instead of self-reliance, and 2) take the sweat, hard work and equity of one man and give it to another (e.g., spread the wealth around).”

But his opinion was too much for several left-leaning interests to take.

Diane Jeanty wrote on Huffington Post that his “diatribe” included the complaint “that ‘our national propaganda ministry reported ad nauseum the detailed description and race of Michael Brown and that of the police officer who killed him.'”

A police officer recently was shot there.

“The rocker claimed that it is a ‘safe bet the two thugs being searched for were raised by a single parent, have criminal records, are high school dropouts, don’t have jobs and are very likely to be members of a gang,'” the Jeanty column said.

“Nugent then turned to liberalism as the culprit behind the struggles that ‘have decimated and destroyed so many black families and their communities,'” the commentary said.

Nugent’s commentary cited the recent violence and racial unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, where a police officer shot and killed the unarmed Brown, as an example of the failings of liberalism.

“A plague of black violence has infested our inner cities, yet our national propaganda ministry has chosen to ignore the gory details of this plague, as do so many of our politicians. Instead, they focus on ‘gun-related’ violence, supposed lax gun laws and their redundant litany of mindless excuse-making instead of the raw data. They seldom if ever cut to heart of the matter,” he wrote.

“Liberalism and their insane cult of denial is the root cause of this plague of violence,” he said. “It is liberalism that engineered and created the very conditions that have decimated and destroyed black American families and their communities. Astonishingly and regretfully, the overwhelming majority of black Americans continue to vote for the very political party that has destroyed them.”

He cited the trillions in “Fedzilla’s welfare crack programs” and said all it has done is “waste this gargantuan pile of money.”

At Inquisitr, a commentary cited Nugent’s lack of “raw data” regarding ” African-Americans and drugs, guns and assault.”

It claimed, “White high school students use cocaine at 4.6 times the rate of black students, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health — and white high schoolers smoke crack cocaine at 1.5 times the rate of black students. Heroin use is approximately the same while marijuana use among white youth is 46 percent higher. But African Americans are arrested for drugs at twice the rate of white drug users.”

“The ‘raw data’ would appear to suggest that the ‘plague of black violence’ is actually an illusion caused by racial disparities in law enforcement practices,” the site stated.

Nugent had quoted Project 21 spokesman Christopher Arps in his argument.

Arps said, “The War on Poverty has arguably destroyed the black nuclear family. Roughly 75 percent of black children were born to a married two-parent family when the ‘war’ began in 1964. By 2008, the percentage of black babies born out of wedlock numbered over 72 percent. Today, the rate of unwed motherhood in the black community is more than twice as high as among whites – and almost three times higher than before big government’s grand intervention. And all this comes at a steep financial cost. The federal government has spent an estimated $15 trillion to end poverty. Government reportedly spent $20,610 on every poor individual and $61,830 per poor family in 2012.”

“The road to peace and prosperity in America is to reject the big liberal lie and all those who endorse it,” Nugent said. “Liberalism is a lie. Liberalism is a scam. Liberalism is a killer.”
