Jack Hibbs, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in California, has named 2014’s “Abortion Free: Your Manual for Building a Pro-Life America One Community at a Time” by Troy Newman and Cheryl Sullenger his “Book of the Month” and will feature it in the church’s bookstore in January.
Hibbs ministers to a congregation of about 5,000 adults.
“We are grateful to pastor Hibbs for making the decision to highlight ‘Abortion Free’ this month and raise awareness of the urgent need to end abortion in our nation,” said Newman. “With leadership from the pulpit, we can expect to see great gains as more Christians become involved in protecting innocent lives and work to create abortion-free communities.”
Newman has been involved in the pro-life movement for 20 years and Sullenger for 30. “Abortion Free: Your Manual for Building a Pro-Life America One Community at a Time” is a collection of stories about their experiences fighting for the unborn and closing abortion clinics all over the country. The book offers readers advice on how they, too, can help to close their local clinics.
Newman’s organization, Operation Rescue, just released the results of a nationwide survey showing 73 abortion clinics were closed in 2014 alone.
Newman acknowledges the fight against abortion will be long and tedious. He urges defenders of life to be discouraged by setbacks and delays.
“Some days will be good and it will seem that everything is going your way, but you need to brace for the days when everything goes wrong – and it will,” he said.
He also noted its best to learn from mistakes and to “keep moving forward.”
In “Abortion Free,” published by WND Books, Newman and Sullenger share their more than 50 years combined experience in shuttering dirty, life-threatening clinics, including the story of how they peacefully shut down the clinic of Kansas’ notorious late-term abortionist George Tiller. In this practical manual you will learn how to:
- Find out who the abortion doctors are in your community and if they have a record or are even licensed in your state,
- Get clinic workers to help you acquire evidence,
- Alert the press and authorities of criminal activities,
- Expose dirty and sundry clinic conditions,
- Inform the public and the leaders of what is taking place, and
- Help the women in need.
Using innovative tactics, Newman’s work is responsible for the closure dozens of abortion clinics around the nation. He continues also to provide evidence for criminal prosecutions of abortionists.
Sullenger has been involved in the pro-life movement since 1984. She founded and directed the California Life Coalition in San Diego and worked with Newman and Operation Rescue to help close more than a dozen abortion clinics and influence more than 40 abortionists to quit the abortion business.
Her sidewalk counseling ministry has saved more than 2,500 lives. Sullenger is an accomplished writer and published editorialist who co-authored “Their Blood Cries Out!” with Newman.
