At the end of last year, Mr. Obama did a shoddy, all-communists-together deal with China, the world's largest totalitarian dictatorship.
By that deal, he exempted China, India and other developing countries from the anti-capitalist, anti-Western, anti-prosperity, anti-freedom, anti-democracy, anti-environment, anti-coal, anti-oil, anti-gas, anti-everything world government treaty that the U.N. is bludgeoning, cajoling or bribing almost every nation on Earth into signing at Paris this December.
As usual, not a word of the content either of Mr. Obama's capitulation to the Mao Dynasty or of the dangerous climate treaty has appeared anywhere in the Marxstream media.
They are all keeping their heads down and their fingers crossed that the treaty will be agreed to before anyone learns two things about it: first, just how anti-Western it is; and, secondly, just how pointless it is.
There have already been 21 years of annual U.N. climate conferences at exotic locations around the world. Many of the delegates to these conferences, specifically including the U.S. chief capitulator, have made a career of jetting around the world at working taxpayers' expense, living in swank hotels month after month, year after year, and murmuring ineffectually through the polished corridors of impotence.
I met him at a recent annual climate conference. Like all the national negotiating delegates, he was utterly unconcerned at the fact that there is precious little scientific basis and no economic basis for any action whatsoever, local, national, supranational or worldwide, to make non-existent global warming go away.
The process, as he and other shiny-suited, shiny-shod professional Western capitulators call it, has become entirely divorced from real-world scientific reality. His job, as he saw it, was to give away as much of America's wealth and democratic decision-making power to the new U.N. world government as he could, while making sure that mere voters were never again allowed to disturb the peace and prosperity of the new global governing elite.
Listening to him was a chilling experience. The sheer, bland, blind hatred of democracy and contempt for the mere people whom the Founding Fathers of his nation had intended to be placed at the head of its decision-making was palpable.
The GOP's first step on ousting the "Democrats" from the White House must be to sack the entire nest of capitulators and refuse to attend any further world-government "climate" conferences organized by the U.N.
Last year, Mr. Obama's capitulation to his fellow-Marxists in Peking was abject and complete. In 2009, at the chaotic Copenhagen world-government conference, he had been humiliated by Wen Jia-Bao, then-president of the State Council of China, who had marched angrily out of a 55-minute meeting with him, stormed onto the stage and declared that China would not allow the U.N. or anyone else to dictate its internal policies on energy generation, climate or anything else.
That decisive intervention saved the world from the global communist dictatorship that the Copenhagen treaty draft had described: a world "government" (the word appeared in Articles 36 and 38 of Annex 1 to the draft treaty) with universal, overriding powers of taxation, regulation and enforcement. (The last was delicately described in U.N.-speak as "facilitation.")
This time, Mr. Obama is determined that China, and other developing nations whose most pressing need is to use cheap fossil fuels to lift their people out of poverty by giving them electricity, shall not wreck the plans of the West's thriving communist movement (reds having been excitingly rebranded as greens) by voting the treaty down.
So he announced that China, India, Brazil and other developing nations would be entirely exempted from any obligation to cut CO2 emissions under the new draft of the world-government treaty until 2030, and that their participation would be voluntary thereafter.
It has only recently emerged, thanks to an essay by Ed Hoskins at Wattsupwiththat.com, just how barking mad Mr. Obama's capitulation to his fellow-communists in Peking actually is.
China overtook the United States some years ago as the world's largest emitter of fossil fuels. All of the rapid growth in CO2 emissions worldwide is now attributable to the very countries – representing between them more than half the world's population – whom Mr. Obama has airily exempted from any obligation to cut its CO2 emissions.
Mr. Hoskins' graph shows what will happen to CO2 emissions from the developed world (in red) and the developing world (in green) as a result of Mr. Obama's capitulation to China:
Mr. Hoskins calculates that by 2030, on the basis of the Obama-China deal, global annual CO2 emissions will grow by almost two-fifths to almost 50 billion tons. Now, if saving the planet from manmade global warming were Mr. Obama's purpose (and it is not), that purpose cannot now be fulfilled, regardless of what the West does or does not do to curb its CO2 emissions.
By 2030, the developing nations will be emitting two-and-a-half times more CO2 every year than the West. Communist China alone will be emitting almost as much as the whole Western world added together, emitting almost two-fifths of global manmade CO2.
The consequences for the West's economic performance will be dire. Already the European tyranny-by-clerk, where democracy has long been stamped out, is shutting down its major heavy industries one by one, paradoxically increasing global CO2 emissions as less environmentally efficient nations such as India and China provide a home for the steelworks and aluminum smelters that once provided jobs for Western workers.
The one gleam of hope from the economic catastrophe for the West to which Mr. Obama and the Chinese leadership gleefully agreed late last year is that the rising CO2 emissions will increase staple crop yields worldwide by what is known as "CO2 fertilization."
Meanwhile, the world will continue to warm at a tiny fraction of the rate predicted by the profiteers of doom. With each year that passes, it will become more and more apparent that there was never any need to put controls on emissions of the plant food that is CO2.
By then, though, the West will be an industrial wasteland with mass unemployment, widespread national bankruptcies and an environment destroyed by the intrusion of monstrous, useless windmills into the landscape. That will be Mr. Obama's legacy. Future generations will rightly hate him.
