Shopping malls and tourist meccas often have a sign near the door, highlighting the various attractions along with a large arrow labeled, "You are here."
Indeed, as a culture we – not only America but the entire Western world – are all "here." The self-anointed elites who have manipulated their way into power and kissed the rings of their betters have developed such a distorted view of reality that the chance of any scheme they devise actually working for the benefit of ordinary people is nil.
- Peace in our time in the Middle East? You betcha.
- Locked and reinforced cockpit doors to keep terrorists from taking control of an airliner? Got it covered.
- Americans aborting too many children an inconvenient truth? No problem; open the floodgates of illegal immigration.
- Our schools failed to turn out graduates with meaningful degrees? Just let the tech firms import more temporary workers from India and China.
- Unrest in our cities because the black family structure has been destroyed by welfare, and the children in those families are incapable of taking advantage of the "free" $12,000-plus per pupil, per year public school education? Just have the White House and Department of Justice speak up: "It's racism, Bro! Burn the place down!"
Yes, we have arrived. You, I and everybody else is "here" – and God thinks it's a hoot! We have either twisted – or allowed others to twist – truth into whatever religious icon they please. And when that version of the "truth" has been discredited, they go on their merry way, stepping over the dead bodies left out on the streets in the aftermath.
Why do I think God is laughing at us? Because He says so. Here is the slightly expanded quote from the Amplified Bible:
TRENDING: To DEI for
"Why do the nations assemble with commotion [uproar and confusion of voices], and why do the people imagine (meditate upon and devise) an empty scheme? The kings of the earth take their places; the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and His Anointed One (the Messiah, the Christ). They say, Let us break Their bands [of restraint] asunder and cast Their cords [of control] from us.
"He Who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord has them in derision [and in supreme contempt He mocks them]. He speaks to them in His deep anger and troubles (terrifies and confounds) them in His displeasure and fury, saying, Yet have I anointed (installed and placed) My King [firmly] on My holy hill of Zion." (Psalm 2:1-6)
Yes, God is having a good laugh at the elitists who are so certain they are going to usher in their intellectualized brand of broken eternity and in the process dethrone the creator God of the universe. Man-machine hybrids and a Google account for your consciousness … forever.
All of these problems we face arise from an incorrect understanding, prevalent in the modern world, of who God is. Increasingly, the elites in government and academia believe, "Oh, he's just like us; perhaps a bit more technologically advanced. But we will get there."
No, you won't. God has placed limits on us, but He has no limits. Here is a very brief excerpt of how Sir Isaac Newton described God:
"He is eternal and infinite, omnipotent and omniscient; that is, His duration reaches from eternity to eternity; His presence from infinity to infinity; He governs all things, and knows all things that are or can be done."
I've always been fascinated by that last characterization: Newton is saying that God knows all possible outcomes of all possible actions. To such a Being, I would think the world looks like a pretty funny place right now. We have the best leaders and technology money can buy. And all it has done is move the world faster down the road to hell.
