That infamous White House fly on the wall (the one that landed on Obama's face) was all ears (and wings) when President Obama secretly met with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last week.
"Secret" was the operative word since the meeting was not on the president's official schedule. At its conclusion, White House press secretary Josh Earnest told the media:
"President Obama and Secretary Clinton enjoy catching up in person when their schedules permit. This afternoon they met privately for about an hour at the White House and discussed a range of topics."
Was Earnest's statement actually a coy euphemism for some good ol' fashioned political horse trading with historic consequences?
The answer is "yes," and soon you will hear from our fly witness.
TRENDING: To DEI for
But first, here is solid proof that some sleazy political antics were at work.
Perhaps it was just a coincidence, but after meeting with President Obama, Mrs. Clinton sent the following tweet acknowledging the fifth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA):
"#ACA@5: 16m covered. Young ppl. Preexisting conditions. Women get better coverage. Repeal those things? Embrace them!"
Speaking of embrace, Clinton's tweet included a photo of her doing exactly that with the president.
The meaning of the meeting is easily explained by the following two objectives also doubling as universal truth:
1. Hillary Clinton plans to run for and win the White House in 2016.
2. Barack Obama plans to continue building and subsequently preserving his legacy as a transformative U.S. president.
Certainly, Obama and Clinton are capable of working out a win-win deal to meet their objectives.
So what do they need from each other?
At this moment Clinton desperately needs President Obama's help to negate, dismiss (or even pardon) any serious legal issues that might arise from her (and her staff) exclusively utilizing a "homebrew server" while conducting government business on private email accounts during her tenure as secretary of state.
This is where our White House fly witness offers his expert testimony. He exclusively told this columnist that he heard Mrs. Clinton say to President Obama, "Trey Gowdy must never ever get his hands on that server, or that twit is going to get caught in a big, fat ringer." (Click here if you are not familiar with Watergate scandal humor or were born after 1973.)
Conversely, President Obama needs Mrs. Clinton's assurance that she will not bash his administration once she officially declares her 2016 presidential intentions.
Even more intriguing was when the fly on the wall told us that he heard Obama say, "Hillary, I will protect you from the State Department and your enemies on Capitol Hill, but in return you must fully embrace the policies of my administration."
Hillary smiled as Obama continued, "Furthermore, your presidential campaign must clearly convey that you are running for my 'third term.' Your victory will enable my legacy to equal or exceed Reagan's."
Hillary's smile suddenly became a frown until Obama added, "You know all those low information voters who twice elected me? Well, at my command they will shift their loyalty to you, ensuring that on Jan. 20, 2017, a second President Clinton will occupy this office."
The fly crashed into Clinton's designer pantsuit as he heard Obama say, "Hillary, today I also need you to fully embrace the ACA on its fifth birthday by sending a tweet, touting its success while zinging the GOP's repeal attempts. If not, the State Department will make your life more difficult, and I'm warning you that I have Elizabeth Warren on speed dial."
In his final report, the fly said that Hillary reluctantly agreed, but even she appeared surprised as Obama began ranting, "Damn that 22nd Amendment limiting me to only two terms! Heck, in 2016 I could win again if it hadn't been for all those racist, FDR-hating, white, male Republicans back in 1947. That "Do Nothing" Congress sure did something, because Democrats took back control of the House for the next 46 years! Heh, heh."
Obama smiled wide as he told Mrs. Clinton, "Hey, since I cannot run for my own third term, here is a great 2016 applause line – 'A vote for Hillary is a vote for me,' and you can tell Bill that line works for him, too!"
Sadly, the fly died on Hillary's leg, but history will note that on March 23, 2015, at 5:21 p.m., Clinton sent a historic tweet fully embracing the ACA – proof that a "protection deal" was "signed" signaling that she is officially running for Obama's third term.
Now it is up to Republicans to stop Clinton and keep Obama's legacy in check.
After all, his is a "glorious" legacy that mocked and ignored the Constitution.
A president who used the power of government to thwart his enemies.
He transformed a once optimistic people into fearing for their nation's future while racking up more debt than all previous U.S. presidents combined.
His legacy will show that he polarized a nation using race and class warfare.
He will be remembered for opening the borders and welcoming whomever walked in.
He weakened and demoralized the military.
He comically refused to accept any blame for anything that went wrong.
He was adept at telling half truths and bald-faced lies.
His was a legacy unable to distinguish allies from enemies and incapable of calling our greatest long-term enemy by its real name.
Unfortunately, his legacy is still in progress … ripping the fabric of America asunder.
