(CNBC) U.S. stocks traded higher on Friday as equities attempted to break the last four days of decline and investors remained cautious ahead of first quarter earnings in April.
"We're going to see a repeat of yesterday's action. Basically the market is going to have another trying session," said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Rockwell Global Capital. Fear of negative earnings is "where the market is hesitant. I think that's probably going to lead us to the correction we've talked about in the past. Nobody wants to get caught on the wrong side of the fence."
