Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., summarized on national television how America's talks with Iran on a nuclear deal were going in terms that couldn't be blunter: Even France is tougher than the Obama administration, he said.
And France is a socialist nation, he reminded.
"I, like most Americans, would be happy to see a negotiated deal that blocks Iran's path to a nuclear weapon – not just today and tomorrow, but 10 and 15 years from now," he said in a Fox News interview.
"We are on a verge of making a very bad deal."
Cotton then said a majority of the members in the House stand fast on the belief that Iran shouldn't be allowed to get nuclear weapons. But Obama and his team are negotiating from a position of weakness, he said.

"Three-hundred and seventy members of the House of Representatives said they wanted to see a deal that blocked any path," he said. "The socialist government of France is drawing a harder line than the president is right now."
His recommendation?
"[W]alk away now, re-institute those suspended sanctions and impose new sanctions to get back to a position of strength so we can negotiate a better deal," Cotton said.
Negotiations with Iran over a nuclear deal have faltered in recent hours, as a midnight deadline came and went without an agreement.
