Taliban terrorists took responsibility Thursday for an attack on an Afghanistan guesthouse that left 14 dead, including one American.
The identify of the American hasn't been released.
The siege lasted hours and started when gunmen opened fire at Kabul's Park Place Hotel, the site of a party for foreigners. The Associated Press reported 14 were killed; of that, seven men and two women were foreigners. The other five killed were Afghans, USA Today reported.

The attack also left seven injured, including a police officer.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid sent an email about the assault: "The attack was planned carefully to target the party in which important people and Americans were attending," Agence France-Presse reported.
Mujahid also said only one member of the Taliban committed the attack; Afghan police, meanwhile, put the number at three and claimed all the gunmen were killed at the scene.
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul has confirmed one American among the dead, but declined to release any name.
