(Fox News) The same federal judge who originally ruled that Alabama's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional has issued a new ruling.
The catch is that for now, nothing changes for the state.
Judge Callie Granade has reaffirmed her ruling that same-sex marriage licenses should be issued because the state's ban is unconstitutional. Thursday, Judge Granade ruled in Strawser vs. Luther Strange that such marriages are legal in Alabama and issued a preliminary injunction in favor of the plaintiffs.
But because the U.S. Supreme Court is in the midst of hearing a case that addresses the issue of same-sex marriage, Granade has issued a stay on her newest ruling until the SCOTUS decision is announced.
